Well my first spider farmer 2000 driver took a shit today. Found out when I came home and opened the tent. No light on and no heat at driver. Luckily I bought a 240w led diy kit with meanwell a while back. Never did love the light so I took the driver, an XLG 240-h-a and wired it to the sf2000.

Spider farmer cheaped out on the first gen meanwell drivers labeled ELG. It lasted 4 grows which is decent but.......

The XLG 240-h-a blows the ELG 240-48a away ( first gen driver). With the XLG (no dimmer) you can actually make the sf2000 diodes blink from too much power. The ELG and the new sf2000 with the dimmer (it has the XLG) can't do that. The light is way way brighter now definitely more than the 200w it normally is. First pic is of sf2000 with dimmer from manufacturer that I have in another tent. Second pic is of the other sf2000 wired up to XLG without dimmer in my auto tent. Definitely worth upgrading the driver I just hope the diodes can handle it.

That probably belongs in the led thread, but I hope you know what your doing, and don’t burn your place down. The diodes can only take so much, and will certainly fail if you overpower them.
Hope she works for ya.👊

Same driver as the new sf2000. Yeah I'm definitely electrical savvy. I backed it off a few notches from full power so we'll see.

LOL Again definitely not overthinking. How many grows do you have under your belt? I have zero grow-outs. I have to start somewhere like I'm absolutely sure you did too. You count days and weeks of plants in veg and flower. You count hours of light in veg and flower? You count milliliter's of nutrients when dosing. Don't you? Or do you guess at those things too from five feet away? You make it sound like new growers should magically know this stuff. Weird.

I figure I'm not just old skool when it comes to growing, I'm probably prehistoric compared to all the new stuff out there. Some spend thousands in equipment; I use shop drop lights and light bulbs. Recently went to 100W "green" ones that use 10w of power. I strart seeds in those cups that breakdown when buried. I produce my own non fem seeds, just au natural and trade with others to get new seed stock to cross with them. Yes it averages 50/50 most of the time male/female, but males have a lot of uses too besides a little pollen harvesting.https://howtogrowinvalid.com/6-reasons-to-keep-male-plants/
