Hello everyone. I’m Tha Bad Hippie. Welcome to my first grow in 7 years.

Strains:
Inhouse Genetics Dark Velvet, Watermelon Martini, OG Kush, Permanent Marker, Biscotti, Watermelon Gelato, and Apple Fritter

Light: Mammoth 680w mint white LED 6 Bar

Medium: 100% Coco

Nutes: General Hydroponics Micro, Bloom, floralicious plus, florablend, hydroplex, roots excel, fulvic acid.

Closet is a little over 5x5, enough to fit a tent inside when I buy one soon.
Veg tent is 2x2x4.5 when used.

I got my own place and decided to start growing again, as the quality of rec shops is good, but not good enough for a seasoned toker who grew up in Washington state. I was spoiled with lots of cali strains from the 2000-2010 era, as well as sticky fresh Oregon buds, and of course locally grown catpiss, uDub and purple strains. My favorite was the trainwreck that reeked like lemon pine sol.

first I had to start with a light. I purchased a $30 seedling light, as well as a 150w hps, 3 ts600 mars hydros and some random 600w COB light for $40 on OfferUp
Tmlapy 2500W Full Spectrum COB LED Grow Light
I only needed two of the ts600s for veg lights, so I gave the others to my brother to sell on OfferUp. After reading about how they are cheaply made and can start fires, I just used one until my new light showed up yesterday… so I’m giving all lights to my brother and buying a safer veg light for veg tent.

I got my taxes and after research pulled the trigger on a Mammoth 680w 6bar mint white led light. Took 3 weeks after purchase but was well worth the wait. The driver is on top of my fridge, detached from the light.

I went to NASC and without doing much research, I saw their Christmas special on inhouse genetics drops. I my day was Dark Velvet, so I got a 3 pack. All 3 popped, but one plant was struggling so I culled it.

I then ordered the other 6 strains.

I am going to take clones then flower in a 5x5 (when I get one). I also need to get a 10” fan and scrubber for the text room, as the 6” fan and carbon filter is for the Lung room, aka my living space where the fan is used to scrub air to the outside for smell control. I’m just using the 6” for now.

Temps are never past 81. 75-80. I keep the lights on 24 hours, with some 6hour breaks until I get a mechanical timer for the LED.

as of now all the ladies are just being fed a 6ml micro 9ml bloom schedule. Feed every watering. Seattle tap water is perfect enough to use without any cal mag or ph down/up (for now) I will be closely following the schedule made by a member from another site called Highbreed. I know the rezdog formula, as well as highbreeds are easy enough for me to get some harvests in before I start to try other brands, side by sides, dialing things in, etc. I also used to grow with jacks classic duo, and was debating using just citrus, as I’ve read in a few journals, but my most successful past grows were with the simple rezdog formula in coco. I like highbreeds because some of the additives he uses.

you might see a few deficiencies on older leaves from the clones that were ordered. They are past that and new growth is perfect, no more purple stems on new growth. If I examine the two plants i have from seeds, the dark velvet, there is no purple stems in sight (healthy plants) so im feeling confident about the rezdog formula again already. It just works to get things going and grow some nice plants. So hard to mess up.

well I guess that’s it for now

I’ll be getting a 5x5 tent any day
Know you said you “got your own place” so not sure your experience with wood flooring. (You say you’re a bad hippy, not an old hippy. 😄) I’ve never used a tent, so might be wrong, but wouldn’t think a tent would protect a wood floor from condensation forming.

One time a buddy ask me to take care of his plants. When I show up I see that he threw down a tarp in his living room, dragged all his fabric pots from his balcony indoors, watered them, and left town. When I showed up a couple days later his floor was a disaster under the tarp. 🙄

Well they all work fine, I used one for a month with no issues, so anyone who wants them can have em. Also the tmlapy works just fine. Easy $100-200 for my bro.

Well, the little trays don’t scratch the wood floor, at all

And yes for the tent I had plans of placing material underneath the tent, because I am not replacing wood floors.
I’m actually going to just get two 2.5x5 ft wood boards, and just rise the tent an inch or so off the ground. A gorilla tent shouldn’t leak, so this is my best option to protect the floors, along with a liner for spills/leaks.

Anyways…

Thanks everyone for the comments and checking in 😅😁

I think every tent I have included a drip tray/liner thing. They aren't great but would contain a spill. Those saucers will contain a lot of spills, too. I also use risers for air flow, but they wouldn't be needed with those plastic grow bags.

Yeah, I’m fairly confident I could just use a gorilla gorilla grow tent, and put some pool liner, or something that others have used, underneath and I’ll be fine. I understand homeboy is just concerned about the wood floors. Which I am too. Im going to be using two 2x4 flood trays in the tent. I think everyone is assuming this is my whole operation lol. I get paid tomorrow and don’t know if I’ll be getting a tent until next paycheck. I’ll be fine til then.

Indoor rubber floor mats from an industrial supply house or janitorial supply would suffice for an underlayment between flooring and tent. Can also likely be cut to size.

i haven’t abandoned this grow. Been participating in another forum, while switching jobs as a line cook, and dealing with life shit. I’ll update with a detailed description and continue to use this forum as well as the other. Rollitup seems to have fallen off the map..

I like this forum because it actually uploads my pictures. Grasscity won’t let me upload pictures for shit! It’s very frustrating

Picture from today, yes one plant is overwatered (the one in the back, dark velvet #2, she is overwatered, not underwatered. No water for a few days fixes the issue…)

I started this grow grabbing one thing at a time, and instead of going with a bag of ocean forest and happy frog mixed together with perlite, I decided to go with coco.

Had a few bumps along the way. I am using ph drops and was feeding too high of PH. I transplanted into too big of containers before roots were established and soaked the medium. I am an hps/mh grower who is not used to LEDs, and turned my mammoth up way too high in the beginning. Etc.

I feel like I am getting things fixed and everything should be running smoothly now. I took clones yesterday. I am leaving any leaves that are damaged on the plant, because I let them use the energy for now.

The overwatered plant, dark velvet 2, has recovered for the most part, always keeping an eye on her. She should green up eventually.

You can see use of adjustable LST clips from Amazon. I love them.

I raised temps to 80s. I’m not used to LEDs and was keeping the plants in the 70s. I researched that you can keep temps in mid 80s throughout flower with LED. Either way it’s helping a lot.

I got the Photone app on my android,
I used the ppfd map they have from mammoth AND migro did one too, and calibrated my app,
Now I can hang my lights at whatever height and use the dimmer accordingly to get 300-600 ppfd for veg etc. it’s working great.

Can’t think of much else more.

Feeding every 12-18 hours
PH 5.8
6ml micro, 9ml bloom, 1ml calmag plus
Seattle Tap water

LAST PICTURE WAS TAKEN TODAY after clones taken yesterday

plants turning around. Gonna do some training today. Clones are doing fine sitting in water cups in the dome with plastic bag. All vents are closed. I mist once a day. In a week I’ll transplant to coco in the cells, and open the vents a little

I have Root Aphids pretty bad. Going to take clones. Isolate them. Kill these plants. and start over.

transplanted all my plants into 3 gallon fabric air pots. Packed charged coir into the sides, etc, then placed a layer of pool filter sand on top of each plant. Making sure the sand is pressed against the edges of the pot.

The fabric pots will allow the plant to breathe. The sand will prevent root aphids from producing. If I need to I’ll buy some botanigard and all that jazz, but my “bro science” should work for now…

I cleaned my room head to toe while plants were being transplanted and cleaned.

So I think I found a solution. When it comes to these root aphids, it is almost impossible to get rid of them. A lot of people suggest scrapping the whole grow and starting over, which I was about to do, until I convinced myself to at least try to save these girls. anyways it’s worked so far!

there is not a single bug in sight. We will see if it actually works in a few weeks. I will apply more sand with each watering maybe.

I also cleaned the floor liner that came with the tent and threw it in there. It was sticky with nutes or something when I got it, so I cleaned that up really well.
