I will also add that LED sensitivity is indeed a thing or at least appears to be on some plants. Especially common on one's with recent land race lineage.

Although the more im tinkering the more im convinced its a spectrum sensitivity then just a straight up LED sensitivity. My peaceblasters burn easy under full sopectrum panels with UV chips, but dont under ones without and Cool white LED fixtures. The plants seem to not be able to tell the difference between 6500k LED chips and 6500k T5 to me. Thats why im starting to lean towards the weird magnesium def and burn iossues on those ones being a spectrum sensitivity.

And in the panels with UV chips... my peaceblasters can take 2400pffd of sunlight with plenty of UV. Im thinking they just dont want to see the UV chips next to the cool white 6500k chips on my phlizon panels. My UV chip free full spectrum panels dont burn them, and neither does sunlight like i said.

I think its less LED sensitivity, and more that lineages still used to the sun just dont like cool white light with too much UV in it. Or something along those lines. You can combat their "led" sensitivity by giving extra magnesium, or by changing the spectrum either one... so my trinkerings are determining anyway. Im pretty sure i no longer think that has anything to do with LED light specifically.
this resonates with me. but i think diode density might have an effect.

i have a vipar bar light at 565 watts that plants will grow right up into. i have a 300 watt hydro hood that will burn just about anything if its any closer than 24 inches. sometimes even if the intensity is turned down.

i am kinda ignorant to nuances, but this is something ive noticed over time. im open to other interpretations, too. i have to be careful with that hood regardless.

Agreed, the closer you run the lights the higher the chance for that top layer of the canopy to get damaged, cali blues my freak pheno I was running was hugely sensitive, I was running 550-600ppfd max and still seeing her shy back, but at that intensity she was still stacking and frosting heavy after 4 cycles of running her clones I had her pretty dialed in. She was a power saving strain, diddnt demand that 900-1k PPFD most strains like

Since I strapped those lights right to the ceiling and started adjusting by power only that issue eased up quickly

Bro, really with LEDs it happens all the time. It’s just a matter of what your microclimates doing whether or not your plants are transpiring correctly or holding too much water feeding habits nutrient frequencies can cause plants to act crazy once a deficiency or a toxicity shows up it can spur along other issues involving the lamp and it’s climate.
Seriously dude like they are really sensitive cultivars out there too and it’s crazy man you know like a lot of of the people that I tell her to turn down their lights because they’re lighting up their plants early and veg and mid veg and everything and the problems stop. It’s the craziest thing. And generally with earlier growers, it’s better to have them stop the issue than red line. Everything right out of the gate if that makes sense like I try to teach people here on a curve I mean, it might turn your face upside down or whatever but fax is fax Homie.👊🏻🤡
If you are dialed. Of coarse you can blast em
Also, you can get pretty close with smaller panels,
You better not be having like a phlizon 6500 or a spider farmer 7000 and doing that stuff youll have burnt matchsticks

But im bout that close life.
With smaller gear
The larger gear,
I keep em high and boost plants into them.

And I’m only at 85% output and I dare not go higher than that not until I see these plants get way more resilient under the current settings

So my point is, theres two sides to that.
Some pics with small panels on full tilt boogie
And how i roll my larger gear.
Great to c ya back Capn hope you n the fam doin alright was gettin worried bout yas👍

I'm doing ok. Coasting along. How bout yourself?

Lol I try to have 1000pffd at my flowering canopy centers

When I see people claiming light burn at 500pffd and lower my face does this: 🤨

It's like the go to for people who don't know what an issue is, but want to feel like they have answers for a problem lol. And then people flowering at 500pffd or less wonder why they have fluffy flower and it isn't like the dispos and wearhouse flower.

People have even started arguments with me on this with literally zero grounds or evidence for claims so I just poke fun at it from a distance whenever I get the chance 😅🤣

I’m definitely using pitiful amounts of light on my soon to harvest plants. But I started a lockout so it was just necessary and there ain’t no going back now. Now that you and I have sorted out my Ph kerfuffle in promix, I have hopes of being able to utilize more light next round..
