I realize I should not have said generations. Just meant taking cuts as new mothers and kept the lineage going
heres some more useful "the more ya know" style info, about clones this time, you prob already know this but some here may not.
Btw if you can maintain that original main meristem on a plant, you can actually go through like 50 generations of clones without ever having yields and expression drift at all.
Dont top the original seed plant til you can cut enough of the main meristem to root a fat meaty clone from that original meaty meristem, water root it with a bubble cloner or cup of water changes so it never fades, then dont top that clone til the main meristem is tall enough to make a clone from more fully mature growth.
If you keep that main meristem going, and you keep it in fully amture, full fat growth, you can clone a clone a clone as long as you want without any drift because every clone you take the entire time is a first gen, main meristem clone. Ive kept clones around for years with no loss of integrity in the clone, and never having to keep a big clone mom around this way.
This is how i keep so many different clone phenotypes around with just one small veg space and two tiny flower tents, washout ever running out of plants to halt a perpetual cycle. At any given moment i may have as many as 15-20 female phenotypes circulating around in clones in this space. its an incredibly efficient way to propagate multiple clones, with limited space, and never run out of harvestable smoke or plants to toss back in. if anyone is wondered why im not posting pics of clone mom spaces at any point, its because i dont actually keep clone moms in the traditional sense. thats super inefficient and takes you down succesive clone generations, and away from that main original meristem a lot faster. Going degrees of separation from that original main meristem is the main source of clone drift over time in my experience.
My entire grow space is the area of a single 5x5 tent, and i pull 10-14 ounces every 4-5 weeks lol. And my clones never go crap on yield or change expression either. And i keep a lot of strains around, and breed at the same time too lol. Another bonus, is that when you take big meaty main meristem clones, they stay growing a lot like seed plants, and theyre so meaty you get like 3 attempts per clone to get some roots going lmao. Its very very rare a big ole meaty meristem clone in fully mature growth fails to root anyway. usually it only takes like a week, and you can usually also throw them back into full strength light and veg nutes right away because the growth is already fully mature.
