I have 4 plants growing, and they are now very root bound. Growing in FoxFarms soil, 11L containers. Plants are avg. 36"-40" tall (not including the container), very bushy and full, aprox. 24"x24" footprint each. Ladies are 19 days into flowering. Started 10 weeks ago, 2 were started from seed (third dimension, harvest 45-55 days), 2 are clones (purple kush and hindu skunk, harvest 8-10 weeks). All appear to be rootbound and are drinking almost 1 gal/day/each of H2O/nutrient. 1000w HPS.

Circumstances forced me to leave them in veg longer than planned.

Is it too late to transplant to larger, e.g. 5 gallon containers? Or should I just leave them as is, adding a drip watering system to prevent them from drying out?

I need to be able to leave them for more than 1.5 days without needing watering.

Thanks for the input.

Transplant those bitches bro. IMO it'll be better than leaving em root bound. Just be sure to be gentle. The size of those containers is gonna reduce your yield as well as leave room for salt buildup. Good luck!

Do it. They will be happy you did and it will help prevent problems later on in flowering.

great time to transplant, buds have another 3 or so weeks of growing and swelling, I had a similar problem not being able to water ever day with my outdoor a couple years ago and then I found these pots been using them when I occasionally do soil but they work pretty killer indoor too

Outdoors I've dug up six foot bushy plants, slid the rootball into a five gallon bucket, and put them in the ground a mile away. They hardly skip a beat....

Thank you everyone for the input.

This is my first crop in 15+ years, previously was using a ebb/flow hydro with good success in the past, old equipment was gone so I decided to give soil a try.

Going from 3Gal containers, should I transplant to 5/7/10 gal. containers? I anticipate another 5-7 weeks of flowering. Plants have from 8-14 nice branches each, did heavy training while young, so some of the bottom branches are as long as the main stems.

I've added a photo of the ladies to my gallery, color looks yellow due to the HPS.

^^^ THIS. This is truth.

I suggest that when you do transplant them you open up the roots, especially if they're circling, so they'll easily find their way into that nice, new soil. Expect a new burst of growth, you might have to tie them down or do a little supercropping.

Much respect to your strong back.

That depends on a couple of things for me. If they were going OD then I'd get them into something even bigger. But for indoors, because of my own inabilities I keep it to 3gal throughout flowering (yes, they end up rootbound at the end). If you can handle bigger, then in this context bigger is usually better.
