For germination I use Jiffy pellets from Home Depot and the day after sprout, I "transfer" them to final pot of equal parts FFOF-FFHF-perlite.
This works for me because I'm inept at transplanting.

I put seeds in cocoloco and they love it. Pretty sure ffof would work the same. For me they grow way faster than promix.

ffof is a hot mix i thought u didnt start seeds in a hot mix ?
I doubt its any hotter than cocoloco. Yes its loaded with nutes but it doesn't burn seedlings- mine thrive with plain water. Just add extra perlite. I ran out and bought mother earth terracraft. Thought I'd give it a try.

I usually just do jiffy seed starter, top soil might be very dense... I'd mix some perlite at least.
