I recently switched from 2 x 5 gallon buckets to a 37 gallon tote. I have a 15LPM air pump feeding 4 decent sized stones. I put a drain nozzle at the bottom of the tote and wondered if pouring a little rez water from the drain would work for pH/PPM testing. I found the drain water to have higher PPM than when measured from the top of the rez. Then I found that manually stirring up the rez water resulted in a higher PPM reading as well.
My theories:
Oh, and I'm just using standard DWC + air stones, nothing else. No drip, no pumps, no quantum entangled vortexes.
My theories:
- A little sediment is probably normal and I should just take readings from the top of the rez and stop being a troublemaker.
- My air pump + stones are doing an inadequate job of keeping the rez from becoming stagnant and I need an upgraded something here.
- It's the end of the world as we know it.
