I have 1 55 gal. rain barrel that the wind blew over before rain finally came to the coastal bend. I almost cried! I use rain water in every grow, I can;t remember if I use rain water to germinate but I'll remember now, Thanks SS

Everyone's rainwater is not created equal though... here in the ADK we can get acid rain if a weather system brings all the crap from the west/Midwest in the clouds, hits the mountains and drops it all on us. It looks beautiful and serene here, but it's actually quite polluted. Our cancer rates are off the charts. Which, whatever, I grow outside, so they get what they get if it's a rainy period lol.
I usually get 100% germination, I think I use about the same method as @GNick55 soak in a peroxide/water mix then sow. They usually pop within 2 days, sometime there's stragglers. I put them right in FFOF with plain water. No issues.

Yes, and everyone's soil isn't the same either... some soil contain gnat larvae which I've seen can wreck a young sprout... they're not detrimental to full grown plants but very lethal to seedlings... then there's bad bacteria, fungus etc some of these make it in due to false storage by a distributor... so one never knows, there's no guarantee when using new materials

There's an entertainment value here. I think it comes from all the stepping on toes of growers who have come before, so as I read some of these tips, tricks, how tos, miracles etc, yeah there's a raised brow and an "Oh really.. That's how you do that? Hmmm." on my end. 😳
And there's some "You know there's a better way to do that" as well but for some reason I'm entertained and smile reading this thread. 😏
Is she doing anything I'd do...Hell no but good to see it work for her. As far as grow guru goes she has a lot of road to travel there and one thing that seems kind of obtuse I guess it is, is not realizing that everybody works around different variables and growing this plant is far from a cookie cutter, one size fit all methodology.

Every time you add rainwater to the cups the nutrients are released and if you over-water you overfeed and that’s why you need to weigh the cups. I let the wet weight drop down to 20 grams from the dry weight before watering. Always keep at least 20 “water grams” Inside the cups at all times.

The reasons seeds fail in Fox Farms Ocean Forest or Happy Frog.
Wrong type water
Over or under watering
Too big of a container
Seeds planted too deep

Water management and water quality are the keys to 100% success for seed germination. I never lose a seed anymore.

Kinda what I do except I saturate the cocoloco, then let it lose about 80g -about 1/3 the total wet weight befor I water again.. Any water under 200ppm works fine.

Yeah, but my way is the only true way to germinate, all others are false prophets.😀
