Two tents one 6” exhaust fan

I bought a second tent recently and was wondering: is it possible to hook the tents together like a daisy chain, with one tent holding the fan and exhaust while the other tent has only a 6” fresh air duct and a duct connecting to the first tent? Or is it necessary to remove filter and fan from first tent and hang outside connecting both with a 6” Y?

Nope.
You would be better off with some white PVC and make a split from the intake of the duct fan mounted outside. You will need some PVC valves to balance airflow just as you described. Running a chain you are pumping humidity and heat into second tent. By the time you get the second tent in range the first tent is basically outside air.
