It happened at a traffic stop located on I-80, near Coalville. They stopped and checked the truck and found 356 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $890,000. The marijuana was found in the bed of the pickup truck about 7:30 a.m.
According to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) trooper, he became suspicious when the truck made an improper lane change. The truck was pulled over. The UHP had a conversation with the driver and found out that the pickup truck was a rental from a third party provider. The driver was traveling with a group of four personally owned cars.
A drug-sniffing K-9 was used to search the vehicle. The dog barked after sniffing the truck bed area which had a cover over it. According to the investigators, they believe that the marijuana came from Northern California and was headed to Minnesota.
