Hi there,
I’m setting up my first small grow tent (60x60x160 cm) in a compact room (approximately 3x3x3 meters) and planning to grow 1 or 2 small autoflower plants. Based on my calculations, a fan with a 150 m³/h flow rate (including a carbon filter) should allow me to exchange the air in the tent about 30-35 times per hour. Is this adequate, or would you recommend a different approach for effective ventilation?
Environment temp/humidity conditions:
- The room's relative humidity (RH) is around 45% (same as outside since all is open), and we are in late summer.
- During winter, RH can rise to 80% outside with average temps of 4° / -2°. I can keep the inside maybe at around 50%. But I'm concerned about maintaining proper humidity levels in the room and inside the tent.
- I fortunately live in a 6th-floor apartment with crossed ventilation, so I guess air renovation is quite efficient when everything is open.
Specifically, I have the following questions:
Cheers,
Sophie

Specifically, I have the following questions:
- Do I need a large inline fan (around 165 CFM/280 m³/h) like those commonly used in grow tents, or can I use a smaller fan or even an axial fan connected to a carbon filter?
- Could excessive humidity from the tent create condensation in the room? Could opening the windows once or twice a day be sufficient to control humidity in this case?
- I can’t run the extractor hose to the windows because it would interfere with the heating in my apartment (temperatures can drop to -10°C during the coldest days). Is there a way to adapt the hose to avoid this issue, or could I possibly direct the air to the outer room (It is where I sleep, so I need to control a bit the noise).
Cheers,
Sophie
