Hey dudes and dudettes, welcome to my grow journal. On 26/03/20 I popped 4 Blue Cheese seeds in to Coco Jiffy Pellets and I am here to share my journey with you and learn from those more in the know than I. This is not my first grow but I am by no means an expert and keep an open mind with a thirst for knowledge.

So I started with pics a couple of days after the seeds started to pop through the Jiffy Pellets. I kept the Jiffys in a high domed and heated propogator. I sowed them on 26/03/20 and they started to pop up on 29/03/20.

The below pic was taken on 31/02/20. At this point, I am still keeping them in the heated propagator inside the grow tent with the lights OFF making sure that the pellets stay moist using water set to a pH around 5.5 - 6.0.

The pellet on the far left is showing a slower growth, this is because I was a little impatient at the start as it was my first time using Jiffy pellets (before I have only germinated in damp paper towels), I couldn't see any sign of a sprout so I tried to gently check all 4 for a sign of life. In doing so, I think I damaged the tap root a little on the one in question hence the slower growth.

01/04/20 - 3 of the 4 have popped their seed husks and are showing healthy cotyledons. As you can see, bottom left is still thinking about life.

I start them under the light now (18/6) and keeping a very close eye on the temp and humidity. I add a large tupperware container of water and a small cool mist humidifier (which I will upgrade soon) to keep my humidity above 60%.

Also making sure that Jiffys are kept moist with the plain pH'ed water. I make up 5L of pH 5.5/6.0 at a time so I have a plentiful supply. At this point, I am dosing the pellets with little more than 5 - 10 ml depending how dry they feel.

I check the pH BEFORE EVERY USE. pH can drift up after you alter it. Always check your pH every day. Leave water to sit for 24hrs before using.

02/04/20 - The young seedlings are loving life. First set of lobed leaves really starting to show now which is always nice to see. Stumpy is starting to poke her head through a little bit more but is still unhappy with me and hiding in her seed husk.

Still just keeping pellets moist with pH'ed water and whispering sweet nothings to the little one to encourage her ;), not giving up on her.

03/04/20 - Not much change from the previous day, 3 seedlings looking very healthy with a lush green on their leaves.

They are looking a little gangly at the stem so today I thought I would pop them in to small pots for support. Light is as close as I can get it for temperature control. I have measured the light at 50,000 lux so they are getting enough and not stretching in search of more.

As you can see, little one is still trying. There is hope :)

04/04/20 - Lobed leaves growing nicely, gave them their first feed today with an extremely weak solution:

MIX -

• 5L water pH 5.5
• 10ml Head Start
• 10ml Root Stimulator
• Bactivator
• E.C. 0.8
• Dose 25ml per plant

Little one was struggling a little with her seed husk so I very gently helped her shake it. She is now showing healthy cotyledons and I am glad I did not give up on her. I know she is a little behind the others but it will all even out eventually. I reckon she will be a stronger plant overall. I will have names for them all soon :)

N.B. the light from the HPS makes the leaves look a little yellow but I assure you they are a nice deep green ;)

05/04/20 - Those lobes on the big 3 are growing quick, all still have a nice healthy green and loving life. Little one now starting to speed up as well. Fed the 3 with the same weak solution as before, dosing around 25ml per plant again.

06/04/20 - The big 3 are growing strong. First lobed leaves are now huge and maintaining that lovely green. Fed with weak nutrient solution again, upped the dosage to 50ml per plant. I will bring the EC up from 0.8 once the cotyledons have yellowed and died.

Look at little one! She has come on leaps and bounds since I helped her shed the husk. Healthy cotyledons and first lobed leaves now starting to show. For now she is still just getting a tiny drop of pH'ed water to make sure the Jiffy is nice and moist.

Also found a little critter. Photo taken with a phonescope (great for admiring crystals when the appear and sexing the plant also). He is a baby house spider so I am going to leave him where he is for now, Guardian of Endor..I shall call him Wicket ;)

07/04/20 No big update today. The strong 3 are showing rapid growth and little one is still slowly chugging away, I reckon once she is on nutes she will fly.

Been battling my exhaust fan a little to keep my humidity levels up so have now hung a wet towel from the top of the tent and that seems to have helped a lot as the small humidifier I have just can't keep up. I regularly check on the plants throughout the day so am able to manually adjust things so they are never stressed for long at all. I have an SMSCOM ac fan speed controller with its own temperature probe on the way. This should allow me to slow the fan down so it is not sucking out all the humidity whilst maintaining an acceptable temp.

Unfortunately, Wicket left for pastures new. I'm sure there will be future guardians of Endor though as I live in the countryside and get a lot of spiders in my house.

08/04/20 - Speed of growth never ceases to amaze me when it comes to marijuana. There has been some good development over night and the big 3 are nearing the point when I shall start feeding them a more potent nutrient solution. For now they are still having a 40 - 50ml dose of 0.8 EC solution with Root Stimulator, Head Start and Bactivator. The cotyledons are starting to yellow a bit which is a sign the plants are starting to run out of their own nutrients, after another couple of sets of lobed leaf growth and they will be hungry.

The UbiBot wifi temperature and humidity sensor I have installed is proving very helpful. I have it setup so that I receive alerts to the app on my phone if the tent gets too hot or too dry. As I have smart plugs on my fans and heater I can remotely turn them on or off to compensate. After my addition of a wet towel I am no longer battling the humidity as much. If I do get an alert for low humidity then I just go in and I'll either find that the towel is dry or the humidifier has run out of water or both. Quick refills and a spray around the walls of the tent with a pressure spray bottle quickly brings the levels back to optimum. Should receive delivery of fan speed controller in the next couple of days which will reduce the fluctuation even more.

11/04/20 - Thought I would give it a couple of days before posting again. Plants are looking good though think I may have been a little stingy with the watering and the one in the bottom photo is showing signs that she is thirsty.

The other two look on top form though. I have been carefully dosing them all with the same amount of water so not sure why one of them is a little upset. If anyone has any ideas then let me know. The super little one is still chugging along, I'll post a pic when there is a little more significant growth. Still watering every couple of days with 50ml of 0.8 EC solution as stated previously whilst the little one is just on pH'd plain water.

Cotyledons on the strong 3 are really starting to yellow now so not long before I start gradually increasing the EC with each feeding. I will pot up in a week or two from now I think. Then It will be 2 weeks of hand watering before I turn the Auto Pot system on.

Have also now ordered a stronger humidifier as at the moment I am in the tent every 3 hours with a pump spray to bring the levels back up from 50%. Currently using a tiny essential oils humidifier and it is finding it difficult to keep up.

12/04/20 - Turns out she was definitely underwatered. Gave her a feed and she is now looking nice and perky again.

On another note, the little one is looking a bit freaky. The first lobed leaves are real dark green and the next set that are starting to grow through look a little odd. I am keeping a close eye on her and will ,ake a judgement call in a week or so as to whether I keep her going or not.

14/04/20 - Sooooo, I left the door to my grow room unattended and door open with the little one still in a jiffy pellet sat on my table ready for some TLC. I went to have a quick cup of tea with the missus, came back to crack on with potting up the others and water the little one and it was nowhere to be found, seconds later my missus knocks on the door with the remains of the poor thing in her hand..apparently the dog thought it was snack time and my struggling seedling was clearly the most appealing thing going . Well, guess he made my decision for me and needless to say that door will be now kept firmly closed at all times.

On a more positive note, the other three have now been put in to the 15L pots and are doing well. First watering was with the exact same solution as before, I will up it to a 1.0 EC mix for the next one and slowly increase to a 1.8 over the next week or so.

18/04/20 - Postings will be further apart as the plants grow unless there are things going a bit wrong then I will post throughout the drama until things are fixed.

It has been 4 days since my last upload and they plants are doing well since their transplant. I did have a small issue with the run off EC being rather high. I was watering at 1.2 EC and checked my run off on the next days watering and it was at a whopping 4.1. After consulting some of those in the know it was determined that I was watering too infrequently and perhaps with not enough going in to the pot.

Although this seemed counter intuitive, I started watering art least twice a day and now the run off has dropped to 2.5 EC which is good but I would still like it lower, around 1.8 for my current feeding in solution. Once this has normalised I will slowly increase the EC of my feeding solution to 1.4 - 1.5 for the next few weeks of veg.

Really happy with they way they are growing. They all have nice tight spaces between the internodes and are really starting to pick up the pace. At this rate I think one more week of hand watering and I shall turn on the auto pot system.

20/04/20 - Day 25. Its 420......I have some nice looking young plants but no bud to celebrate...this lockdown thing means it is kinda difficult to get where I am at, Oh well, just means I will enjoy my harvest that much more when it comes in.

I have now named the young ladies () Leia, Lyra and Leela after some of my favourite females in Sci Fi/ Fantasy . I am very happy with how they are growing and it looks like I have some really good genetics here.

I am now happy with the run off EC. I am feeding a solution of 1.3 EC and my run off on all plants is 2.0 so has fully normalised. It took about 4 days to sort and I will now stay on top of it until I switch on the autopot system which will probably be a week today.

I am trying the the FIM technique so yesterday Leela and Lyra had 75% of the new growth on the main shoot chopped off. I have left Leia intact to see what the difference is. As I understand it, some strains respond really well and others don't but from deeper research it seems my particular strain should be quite happy about it so we shall see.
