I want to use the largest container possible for a recirculating setup but my concern is if the plants grow too tall I may have to use 2 bulbs on each coner one on top of the other (inline) but Id prefer to use one on each corner.

So what is the largest container volume I should use or is it mainly strain dependant?

the bigger the "container" the bigger the root mass = bigger plant

a while ago DDs said he was working on a grow with huge mini-res and stacking 1ks to make even more monster indoor plants.

Thats the issue, Im after the largest root mass possible but not to large to the extent that the plant requires 2 x bulbs from the top to bottom. Im wondering what is the largest volume size I should choose so I only need to use one bulb.

all you can do is try it out and see. Worse things have happend then changing out a pot/container.

On a side note, you can always plan on pruning
