Stupid question.

Where do you plug in your LED Light? - Directly into the wall, or in a surge protector power strip?

Also, do you have a fan blowing on your lights to keep them cooler?

Thanks in advance.

A rated timer for all my lights. No fan on my lights. It causes too much heat and humidity.

The wall and i have different lights on different breakers
Thanks. I purchased a 3x3x6' mars hydro tent kit today, it comes with a timer.

I guess ill plug the timer into the wall, and dedicate one circuit breaker/outlet for just the light. The light is only 300w, its a Mars Hydro FC3000-EVO 300W LED Grow Light. It's my first time growing indoors, just want to make sure there is no issues like fire hazard, etc. Wanna be safe and not sorry.

The lights driver/power box, should i leave it on top of the lights as pictured or keep it outside the tent so it stays cooler?

I have a timer plugged into the wall with a power strip. Plugged into that is my light and three 8” fans.

On a different circuit I run a a 6” inline fan ✌️

I aimed a fan onto the non detachable driver of my light , I think it helps in my hot climate . Good Luck

My smaller tent is plugged into a power strip then into a timer.
It kills all power in the tent to cut down on some of the electricity costs. 2-3 fans at 45 watts each not running for 8 hrs a day.
Not to mention other things i dont need to run 24/7.
I try to keep everything as simple and as cost effective as possible.
Keeping things simple it doesnt burn you out and doesnt cost a ton of $$$

1st question: I keep mine on timers plugged into a gfci outlet. 15 amp circuits are rated for around 1800 watts.

2nd: Depends on your environment, I grow in a large cold room and use the lights/drivers to help keep the tents warm and a oscillating fan to move the heat & air around. If its warm keeping the drivers on the outside is fine.

I do outdoor growing and I have my garden shed set up as a grow room for supplemental light only during the short day months. I use a smart plug to put them on a schedule. It comes on at 6pm to extend the light to 9pm, then it comes back on at 3am until morning. The bummer of growing this way is I have to be around every night to put the plants up and every morning to take them out.

Thanks. I just want to be safe. I ordered a smoke detector (which ill install near the top of the tent) and ABC rated fire extinguisher. Just incase. Call me paranoid, but i cannot have a fire burn down my home. My sockets are dated from 1985 but still work great with no issues.

I was wondering if the tent makers (gorilla/mars/spider/vivo/etc) have fire retardant tents? This way if something in the tent catches fire, it will contain the fire from leaving the tent. - they should think about that, if these tents aren't fire rated. I think its worth paying a little more $$$$ for the peace of mind.

Safety third I always say👍 I had a power strip in a tent laying in a pool of water once, didn't know what kept tripping the gfci outlet... So I understand the caution lol, but only you can prevent wildfires. 🐻🧸 I don't keep power strips in the tent anymore unless I have to...

There are heat activated fire extinguishers that can be added to a tent. I don’t have one but it could add peace of mind if that’s a concern 💨

Any questions ask.
Dont quote me on this but i think if you follow the advice you usually become a professional grower by round 3. Lol : -)

yeah, costly though, maybe in the future. I prefer an outdoor grow. Being that my State made it legal to grow, and being that the weed here sucks so bad, and is so expensive, I'm forced to grow my own indoors this winter.

Hehe. This is my first indoor grow. I'm cheating. Using quality fem autoflower (blind/random) Sativa/Indica/Hybrid/Pheno seeds & super soil 5 gallon fabric pots in a 3x3x6 (39") w/4" inline with carbon filter. Waiting for it all to arrive, got my location ready. You guys are going to have to guess what strains I'm growing. Hopefully i wont see an gnats/aphids.... bahhhh soil.

Don't be silly, you are doing the smart thing not the paranoid thing! I did the very same. I purchased 2 new smoke detectors, 1 of each tent and 2 small fire extinguishers, one for each room. You are not being paranoid. You have no idea how many of these items, when they fail, they just start by smoking lightly for a few days before something serious happens.

Not paranoid, you are being smart. Good work man.
