Yes. There sure are a lot of them and that makes the buying decision more challenging. I suspect we'll end up with more than one before we're done. So, for now, finding a good entry-level device makes sense, I think.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding. But you might check out the Planet Of The Vapes website. Yeah I know there are a lot of them. I bought a plenty. It’s OK for table top use but it’s a pretty cumbersome piece of equipment and I’m not sure I would buy it again if I had it to do over. When I smoke or vape, I stay the fuck home! Lol!

I'd buy from the shop closest to my house. Buying their most popular unit they carry parts for. In case you need a coil or whatnot. So you don't get stuck waiting. If you can.

Part of the problem is that there aren't any shops near our home. That said, we're about to depart in search of vape shops. It's a long drive, but I think shopping in person will be helpful. It would also be nice to be able to go back for parts and service. Good point!

Ive done it at friends b4 but not enough to trust the bags. @TSD I love my mighty but i do wish sometimes i could take a bong rip of vape for quicker movie prep. I used a volcano digital for a few years. But since extracts I haven't wanted to. They work. But if the weed is bad tasting it amplifies it. Extracts and dabs and you're ready for a movie in 2 minutes. And only need a 2 minute break. I ... I take a lot of dabs..

Sure! No problem. I'm interested in the Volcano, too. I doubt it will be the first vaporizer I'll ever buy, though.

Yeah I just started dabbling in dabs and such 🤓 I got a terp pen for my hash and a buddy made some rosin that it works well with... I don't make a habit of smoking weed that tastes bad lol, my Mighty has the same effect... tastes how it smells in the jar... the effect also works in opposite order with bunk weed... most dispo weed just tastes musty and stale. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah that's definitely a drawback of concentrates, you go back to regular weed and you're like "well fuck, guess I'll roll another" after you finish the first cause you're not at your preferred level of stoned-ness yet lol.

Well, our trip to civilization was a failure. One shop had no vaporizers, even though Google said they did. The other shop had three: a volcano, a Pax 3 and one other that I didn't recognize. None were discounted. Sigh. So, it's back to buying online I go.

My friend just bought a pax 3, it's nice. Has an app, different settings (discreet, flavor saver, etc) works great. Can use herb or dabs. Still love my Mighty, it's not that fancy, but it's a solid product, they replaced mine with a brand new one after 3 years cause my battery was dying and my screen didn't work. Sent them mine, they sent me a brand new one. Originally they were gonna refurbish it, but I guess they got it and were like "ohhh, this thing gets USED... send that stoner a new one." 🤣 Cost me only the shipping to send mine. Glad I registered it. They have a next gen one now. I want a volcano but I don't have an extra six hundo lol. I've smoked dabs and hash in my Mighty, gets the job done. I think pax 3 has a dual use option too.

I got so lucky when I bought my Volcano Classic. I'd been checking for any online coupons every other week for a few months(was hoping for a 15-20% off). One day when I googled I found an, "50% off 1 item". Thought there was no way it would work on the Volcano, but it did 😃 Hell yeah😍🥳!! Ended up costing about $250 with shipping.

@BigBlonde I got my Pax when the Pax 2 was coming out so I got the closeout deal. Mine still works perfectly after all these years and 3 models later.

I am also in the market for a vaporizer and just saw some guy on Youtube say they quit making the original Pax 1,2,3 and started making a "Pax mini" and are focusing on selling herb made for their pens. Made the mistake of buying a pressing machine and want to start making my own carts eventually. I live in a place it's all do it yourself. I am also old so I pretty much stay confused on new ways and tools. Going to hit our local "head shop" and hopefully the young man in there will be able to give me some guidance.

I'm still on the fence with trying something kind of new or should I go with something thats seems tried and reliable. Going to keep an eye on your final call.

It seems to me that most all pens are made for herb and rosins. They are looking for one mainly weed and I am looking for one for concentrates. Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions on that?

I'm sure that the Pax 3 is being replaced by the Pax Plus and the Pax Mini. On their website, the Pax 3 is only listed under the "Sale" section of the menu and not listed by name like the other models.

The shop I went to that had a few vaporizers was staffed by a teenage girl who had no knowledge of vaporizers.

It's easy to be confused. Legalization brought complexity with it. We've come a long way from a dime bag and rolling papers. I didn't pay attention to vaping until we were given a cartridge vaporizer last Christmas. It's nice, but the cartridges are expensive. After buying some, I got the idea that it would be nice to be able to use my home grown weed. I had seen it mentioned here, and after doing some research into the advantages of vaping, I decided to buy a dry herb vaporizer.

I'm still on the fence with trying something kind of new or should I go with something thats seems tried and reliable. Going to keep an eye on your final call.

I'm still leaning toward buying a Pax 3 at a discount (if they ever fix their website) because I like the engraved model, but the Pax Plus looks good, too. Other models mentioned in this thread also look pretty darn good. I'm tempted to buy more than one, because they all have unique advantages. I'll probably get a desktop model later this year. I must start at the beginning, though, so I suppose I'm mostly seeking a good beginning.

Some do both dry herbs and concentrate. My main intent is to be able to vape the weed I grow.
