So I've got a crop that stretched a lot more than I expected and the strain is not much of a bender. My options are suffer some serious light burn or dim my double ended HPS lamps. I think it's pretty common knowledge that dimming HID's is not ideal for both optimal spectrum and energy efficiency but I found something from Hortilux that leads me to believe it's not the ginormous world ending kiss of death sometimes made out to be. The MH seems to have a pretty gnarly negative effect if dimmed in veg but when I look at the difference in spectrum of a 1000W HPS being dimmed to 750W they look pretty similar?

You're probably right. It's not a ginormous kiss of death. Looks like there's a drop in some yellow light.

That scale is likely a percentage of the total for operating at that level — that is, 100 in the 100% chart represents more light than 100 on the 75% chart.
