I need help deciding if I should keep this Hulkberry that I sprouted. Ever since it popped it has had brown spots on the cotyledon. The pic is kinda hard to see but you'll see what I am talking about. Also should I keep it or start over? Help me choose between Hulkberry and Whipped Biscuit. Also do you think I can put 3 5 gallon fabric pots under a Mars hydro 2X2 light?

Yes, with proper care that sprout should grow up to be a healthy plant.

Edit: A couple of things ... that planter isn't ideal for cannabis. Your plant is also too small to up pot to either a 3 gallon or 5 gallon pot. You will certainly create watering issues if you transplant too soon. When you do, carefully score the sides of the peat pot so that the roots can break through. I've seen those peat pots cause more harm than good because they didn't allow the roots to grow through them as easily as it should.

Thank you ! I will be using a McDonalds cup for now cause that is all that I have at the moment.

What size? If its similar size to a solo cup, you're in good shape. Just mist the sides of the peat pot, water it normally, and then run a razor blade down the side of the peat pot in 4 places. You're trying to score the pot, not cut completely through the side wall.

No, its not too large ... but its clear. A clear cup is workable but not ideal because the roots are exposed to the light. People who have been using clear cups for seedlings typically will nest that clear cup inside a cup that doesn't allow light to penetrate through it. Don't forget drain holes in the bottom of the cup.

I cut them open and one the main tap root was trying to get through but couldn't. I transplanted them both. The Hulkberry with the already brown spots is in the big forever pot and the whipped biscuit is the small McDonalds cup.

What size are those pots? You did exactly what I was hoping you would not do. Now, you'll end up going a couple of weeks before you can safely water again. Cannabis has a specific need for the whole soil area to be saturated and then for the soil to dry out before watering again. If you try to water those seedlings in that size pots every 3-4 days, you'll certainly be over-watering.

Since you did this already, leave the plants. Don't try to retransplant them into smaller pots. Instead, purchase this inexpensive meter and DON"T water again until the meter rests between 3 and 4 on the dryness scale.

Do you know if my bigger plant hermies, can I breed it with the smaller plant when it matures? The big girl

I have this one. Should I water until run off or just around it with 3/4 cup of water like I did? When I measure with the probe all the way buried it reads 49%. When closer to surface it is 58%.

When I purchased the pots I ordered 5 gallon but they run small so maybe 3 or 4 gallons.

I don't trust a moisture meter that uses a battery. It may be fine. I don't know for sure. The non-battery meter is a bi-metal probe that if its not been bent or dented is very reliable. It why I recommend that kind. Since you already have it, use it. Hopefully its a good quality meter that reads just fine.

Yeah I hope it does. The lux meter and humidity on it is pretty much spot on. My soil temp ready around 76 so I figured if my air temp is 80 lights on 72-76 off then that should be close to.

If you were to have done this the way I was hoping, you would have transplanted into the solo size cup (McCafe coffee cup in your case) The only thing less than ideal about it was it was clear. A layer of duct tape over that plastic would have been sufficient to block the light.

With those 5 gallon fabric pots (you're correct they don't hold a whole 5 gallons), there's no good way to water a sprout. Cannabis needs to spread its roots to grow. Those roots will not grow into dry soil. If you saturate the large pot and allow it to dry back normally, it could take a month before it needs watering again. If you water like 8 ounces today ... maybe another 8 ounces in 4 days ... it will grow. You'll need to give it increasing larger amounts of water as it grows until you can safely saturate the whole pot and allow normal dry-back.

In other words, you can make what you did work. It's not ideal. It has complicated things a bit but its not the end of the world.

I meant to transplant the Hulkberry into the McDonalds cup, not the whipped biscuit. I did it backwards so I just put the Hulkberry in the big pot instead of finding something smaller.

I think most people on this board are committed to seeing you succeed. Like I said, its a complication but we can work through it. Simply keep posting pictures and asking questions as you go.

The larger plant should not have the same struggle the sprout might have. Over-watering can still be an issue but it's not nearly as likely for that plant.

I am learning a lot as I go when watering the big one. I'm using a mix of hydrafiber and soil so a little water goes a long way and the soil stays wet a lot longer. Thank you for your input , I appreciate it a lot. This is my first grow .

I'm not sure using a soil that stays wet longer is your best choice. Next run, if you're in an area where you can purchase either Fox Farm Ocean forest or Roots Organic Original, then use it directly out of the bag with adding only a bit of extra perlite is probably one of the easier ways for a new grower to set themselves up for success. Because cannabis wants to cycle through wet/dry/wet/dry and so on, soils that retain moisture typically aren't the best choice. You would have more control over how the plant grows because you can safely water more often in a mix that dries out faster.

I used a mix of mother earth, miracle grow organics and the hydrafiber. I know not a good choice but it is all that I had

Are you in an area where you can purchase supplies from an actual grow store or hydroponics store? If a new grower is growing in soil, its best to start with a good soil mix that comes out of the bag in the correct pH range. It's why I suggested what I did in a previous post. You're going to learn a lot with this run. Start taking some mental notes on how to improve for next time. Successful growers don't wing anything. They carefully plan and source what they need before they begin their run.

According to my meter, my soil pH is 4. Monster energy drink accidentally got poured into soil . I checked it since and the pH is 4.5. I know that this is low but I don't know how much and if there is anything to correct this. Yes I live by a grow store but when I started this grow a month ago I had left over material and pretty much zero dollars to invest. Since then I have spent over $200 on supplies. Even though I would love to grow top quality flowers, I am aware that with what I have , the conditions that I can provide in a closet I won't be able to produce very strong stuff. I' plan to use organic fertilizers as I go but nothing crazy. Maybe some Epsom salt, egg shells stuff like that. Also had a BIOS Organic nutrient sample pack that I added. But with what I have , I think I am doing pretty well. I'm a month in and when you open the closet the smell of Kush hits you in the face already.
