Hi everyone, new here and been lurking for a while. Seems like a friendly place with a wealth of knowledge. Hope some of you will offer advice as it progresses.my space is 7.5x7.5. Using Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Regular seeds, have femminized on order.
For vegging I’m using fluorescent grow lights. 75*, 55% RH.
First post, I might screw up the pics. Built this germination station. The grow room and the lights. Also, growth so. Got my fingers crossed 🤞

Think they’re getting too leggy ? I read it’s good to weg under fluorescent cause the grow slower and get better established that LEDS ?

I actually use hlg propagation lights. They are LED. A lot of folks here do use fluorescent. What tubes are those?

The seedlings will stiffen their stems if you get some air circulation on them. Not a strong air flow but enough to make them flutter a little. Moving a little closer to the light will slow the stretch too.

Both are ‘grow’ lights. One rated at 1700 L other 1400 L. I have those big LED’s mounted and ready to rock. Think I should put them out there’s Those sucker are seriously bright. Thought the LED would make them leggy ?

Ok, so decided to take the babies away from the fluorescents cause they seem too leggy already. Have the grow space done with these bad ass lights. Babies seem happy. Have exhaust system in the workshop I set up an intake and exhaust ports. They have gates to regulate the air flow. Just got my seeds today from Humbolt. They included eight packets of free seeds of different strains !! Can’t wait to get them going. Waiting for a bag of Lush, hear it was better than FFOF. Opinions ?
Thanks

Fluorescents are nice because they produce just the right amount of heat. Pretty fool proof. Better have your temps around 80 + if your using LED’s and be careful as they are very intense.
I use LED’s to start with but I also use a heat mat at first.

I have the lights 44” above the plans, dialed about half intensity. No problem making it warmer. They came up to the fluorescent bulbs before I switched to LED
Thanks

It all looks great. The only problem I would see using LED’s is the dirt in the pot getting to cold as they produce little heat. Also vegging 24 hours under LED’s can be iffy, no problem with fluorescent. This is coming from a northern guy where it’s winter.

Winter here too bro. I’ll check the soil temp after dinner. Didn’t think of that, thanks. Turns out these lights put out almost 100* from the transformer !! With that little heater, first set up it was 90* in there ! 🌟

Small update. The old style fluorescent bulbs did not work out well. They started getting leggy. I got those Sun Blaster t50’s. Cut done the germination cart to accommodate the smaller bulbs. We dropped 8 seeds. Three wedding cake, three Kush4/T100, two purple urkle/ fallen soldiers. In Lush. 75* 55% RH.

Small update. The seedlings are doing well under the LED but I turn down the intensity by 50% and turned one light off. It’s been about two weeks and we decided to transplant into a 1 gal. Felt pot. Got the seeds from Humbolt vegging under the T5 lights.

Ok, here’s an update. These are unknown seeds been growing for four weeks. I topped them about four days age following advice here on the farm. Now they are very bushy and many of the leaves are overlapping each other. Very happy with the progress so far. I’m not sure what needs to be done now. Should I prune ? The lower fan leaves are getting quite large. Wondering if I should top again.
Thanks for any advice

Here’s and update. I cut down the legs on the tables, the unknown plants we’re getting too close to the lights. Have femminized plants growing as well, they’re about a week behind but doing well. They love the HLG lights. My only concern right now is one of the unknown plants is getting a little lighter color green than the others. Don’t know why ??

If it was one of the plants to close to the light it could be light bleaching. Could also be hungry.

Thanks, hopefully lowering the tables will get them further from the light and help. We transplanted into 1 gallon a week and a half ago in FFOF, so I don’t think it’s hungry.
