DONT make the same mistake I made, not grown in about 5 years and just got back into growing. Used to use Remo before but shops near me don’t sell any anymore so thought I’d try out canna coco.
what I didn’t realise is canna coco A + B is not designed for Run To Waste system, it’s actually the opposite where your not supposed to have any run off in order for the chemical reaction between calcium and potassium to take place.

This is what canna emailed me when i posed a question

One thing to note is about the amount of run-off you plan to acheive using your technique. CANNA COCO A&B is intended to be delivered to a substrate where the run off is minimal, and more managed via the moisture content needed. That way, there is time for the buffering of calcium and potassium to occur, where it becomes more favorable to flowering plants (higher potassium).

If you water to run-off each time, this accumulation is washed away with this run off. With your irrigation strategy it may be worthwhile looking at making use of the COgr line, typically used for a more granulated coco with high run-off amounts. It has a VEGA and FLORES version, to supply the change in ratio of NPK as demanded by the plant, which may not be acheived with a normal COCO A&B if you run to waste at such a high rate every irrigation.

Hey good to know. Great info. New grower here and now I know not to run off. No doubt I going to try their runoff version as well. But how it going with growing with canna. Did you switch or continue?

I am nearly at the end of flowering and I can say canna is a quality product as long as you know which nutrient line suits your growing style.
I made that mistake as I made a full run to waste system by elevating the grow and had drain pipes running under it towards a sump pump, all of that and canna told me that I shouldn’t run to waste 🤦🏻‍♂️

so next time I’m going to use a 3 part nutrient line so I don’t have to rely on the coco and nutrients to make chemical reactions just so my roots can uptake the potassium as I did have a potassium deficiency this run.

But to be honest I actually had a few deficiencies as I was under feeding as it was the first time I give high levels of ppfd and co2, around 1500, so I didn’t raise the nutrient levels to match and my plants ended up underfed, so I do think canna a and b will still work if used correctly, however I want to dial things down in my grow so that’s why I am moving towards a 3 part nutrient line like remo.

Hope this helps mate
