I run two 600 lumatkes and never had this problem, EVERY manufacturer has problems every now and again with their products. IT should of came with a warranty, if it is passed the warranty date, then go get a new one. However, lumatek, galaxy and future brite is going to be your only real options...

There is sometimes NO reason for anomalies to happen. There are different kinds of cannabis, and many different leaf shapes and sizes. Don't worry about it, If the plants are overall healthy, then there is no reason to sweat it.

I have to say that i run a lumatek 400 and 600w 120v ballasts, and i freaking love the things. Barely any heat compared to magnetics.. maybe 40% of the heat maximum. Bulbs burn longer and brighter, and there is no noise. You absolutely cannot go wrong with digital lumateks.
