First Time Growing

So was telling a friend I would like to grow a pot plant...He says I will get you 1.....Wow,ok. it was about 10" when I got it and now about 5 1/2' I know nothing but trying to learn. Plant looks good for all I know. Says it is some kind of Kush...Don't really remember. Thanks for all the info on this site and I am sure to ask lots of dumb ?'s .....LOL
