Grow4's First UC Run -12XL 8 gallon 7600k

What's up everyone? This will be my first under current run, I've grown with ebb&flo and coco before so I know some about hydro but this is going to be interesting. It took my hydro store forever to get my order in so I pre-vegged in the 8'' netpots on one of my flood tables for 3 weeks. I will try my best to keep everyone updated and to get my pics in order. Here's what we're working with:

Room is 12x20ft -12XL UC 8Gallon

I have (7)1000 watt ballast and (1)600 watt

I'm running 6" cooled hoods

I have a portable 10K BTU AC

DM Gold A & B
Cal-mag

One Week Later-I put a piece of poly over the table and cut holes for the netpot to sit in so it could start to grow roots out the sides of the pots without them dying off.Check it out

After waiting over a month for the UC unit I finally put it together

I'll get some pics of them today and update, its been 4 days in the UC and I built a huge net for them.

Here's a quick update, the girls have been in the UC for 4 days the screen went up on saturday about 20" above the buckets. PPMs have been at 350-400 and the PH around 5.8, water temp around 69. I only been running 4 lights just to get them adjusted before I blast them with light. Here's some pics from yesterday

Chiller?

The chiller will be here tomorrow or wednesday but the water temp is fine right now at around 68-70. I ordered a 1/4 hp I hope its enough. Thanks for the shout out

I had my eye on it for awhile and finally took the dive, Good luck with yours too and use lube when putting it together it made it easier.

Thanks man, its a barn room I'm hiding a table behind that poly thats why its bumping out on the left. I have the heavy harvest lids and yea 12 plants under 7600k.

What exactly is that screen made out of? Where did you get it?

This is going to be interesting. I'm running my first grow of white widow and at 400ppm using H&G nutes had some burn. They took 2 weeks to start to look a little better but still show signs of burn but not on new growth. It took a full 3 weeks to begin flowering which is 2 weeks longer then Im used to. Keep an eye out as this system seems to do great using much less. It may also be the strain? not sure. Good luck.

I Live in the north east and the temps have been around 40 F outside, i'm gunna have to upgrade the AC in a couple months

What exactly is that screen made out of? Where did you get it?

The screen is made out of 2x4 and sheets of wire screen I found in the concrete section of home depot. I actually have 4 sheets on mine. The screen I made is huge its 5 1/2 X 13 ft

Yea I decided to go with DM Gold and Zone, I'm also using a tiny bit of cal-mag from Bloom advanced agriculture. The DM A & B are both at 1/4 strength. Everythings looking good right now but lets keep our fingers crossed.

These girls vegged for 3 week on a table and now for 5 days in the UC, I plan on flipping this weekend or before but what about nute switch? Just top off with the flower nutes or drain system a little then fill back up with new nutes? I have a top of res, idk if i need it right now I am waiting for them to eat up the veg nutes.

That CCH2O sign is dope! Killer Skunk sounds killer as well... Are you gonna run aquashield? As for flipping the switch and res change... You can flush the system and either shop vac out the remaining water in the buckets and pipes, or just leave it in there... :cool

Should I run aquashield as well as zone? I been running zone at 1ML/GAL, I'm also thinking to up my PPMs to 600 because the plants are about 20" but I will "KISS" for now and should I try to fill in the screen before the flip or will it fill out anyway?

I started my UC with Zone and just before the flip I started to add Roots Excelerator and AquaShield. Then I flushed the system and left the veg nutes that I couldn't get out of the buckets... I added the bloom nutes from my top off res and didn't add anymore zone, but continued with Roots Excelurator and Aquashield... After a few weeks of bloom I discontinued Roots Excelurator... So far, so good. Keep it Super Simple and watch the pH and PPM's every few days... :nod

Time for a update, the ladies have been in the UC for one week today I've had the PPMs at 350-400 and they started dropping, these girls are hungry so I drained a little out and filled with stronger nutes. Everything is going pretty well the temps are around 72-75 and the chiller went in yesterday 1/4 hp ActiveAqua water is set for 68 and hooked up my top off reservoir. They are starting to grow through the screen and I also trimmed some of the lower branches but I didnt go crazy because everything looked too good to cut. They are about 22" tall today. My only concern was they start to wilt a little bit at the end of the 18 hours right before the lights go off. I'm not sure if thats normal or because they aren't getting enough nutes?? Other than that, I plan to flip around this weekend or when the screen starts to fill in more but let me know what you think...

Set ur chiller temp to whatever it takes to maintain a 62-64 system temp. With the 8gals, watch for decreasing water levels in the farther buckets from Epi during late flower.
