Anyone else here also make their own beer? I've been brewing for about 7 or 8 years now. Firing up a batch of NEIPA today.

  2. I use to homebrew, but quit drinking. I now am incorporating all my brewing equipment to cannabis production, when ever I can. I use wort buckets to mix nutes in, use my boil pot to catch waste water when changing out, and have used hoses connected to chiller for cooling. I could not use coil, it was copper.

Right on, at least the gear isnt wasted.. I use my brew kettle for making bubble hash when it's not making wort. 20181011_182718.jpg

  4. I’ve done beer, cider and homemade wine. Sometimes it’s nice to have something that you can’t find at the store. I gift more of it than I consume.

It’s a nice hobby to get into, but it really changes your perception on food. I always do a double take and wonder what would turn out if I fermented that instead of eating it? Some peaches go in the pie, some peaches go in the carboy.

Dirtbag are you brewing from a kit or do you mash all grain?

All grain, I made one coopers kit before I made the switch. I like to make beer that's as good or better than anything I can buy for 1/4 the cost. Truth be told, I dont even really enjoy the process of brewing much anymore but I'd still rather make my own than pay all the taxes on store bought. Plus, I make damn good beer, and it only costs me about $15-$20 per 5 gallon batch. I've almost quit brewing a couple times and just cant bring myself to do it lol. I like to be self sufficient.

  6. Right on man I hear ya! There’s also a sense of accomplishment when you nail a recipe and explain to people that it cost pennies per pint. When you make a decent bottle of wine for like 3 bucks a bottle It’s hard to pay 20 at the liquor commission.

What kind of yeast are you using. I’ve got this kicking around in the back of the fridge for a project I never got around to.

I've got about a dozen different kinds of yeast stored with glycerin in the freezer, but I mainly use wyeast 1318, US-05, and 34/70. I drink mostly Pale ale, NEIPA and Stouts and lagers. Never could get into farmhouse/saison type beers, not a fan of sours or strong barrel aged stuff either. I mostly make easy drinking 5-6% stuff.

Got the NEIPA on gas, and it's an absolutely crackin beer. Very very soft and fruity with an almost candy like aftertaste. Beautiful.

There is nothing like having a couple pints and puffs of my homemade stuffs...

    Cheers!
