Struggling With Psychophysiological Insomnia

I've been diagnosed Bipolar 1 W/ Psychotic Features since 17, but recently an institution believed I was misdiagnosed and actually had Disassociative Identity Disorder. Weaned me off all medications for 2 months and subsequently had a severe manic episode. Could have been just a rebound effect from lithium withdrawal after years of use, so we're not sure if I'm both or neither or what.

What I'm fairly confident in is that I maintain the diagnosis 'psychophysiological insomnia'. I'm prescribed the max dose of Lunesta and am also on Lithium, Trileptal, & Buspar...We had to cut the dose cause I was maxed out on everything and started having severe nosebleeds amongst other symptoms.

Basically, I don't know what the fuck to do. I live in Florida and have my medical marijuana card...I tried the tincture oil and even ridiculous doses had little effect. They seem to have some new products now. I guess restrictions are relieving.

At this point, I don't care its more expensive than what I get elsewhere. What I'm getting is not working. I suppose I'm coming here to ask for any advice at all. Growing illegally is not an option unfortunately. I'm actually desperate.

Please help in any way you think you can. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank-you for reading.

Lunesta knocks me out if I take triple the max dose but I have strange blackouts (not typical of lets say an alcohol induced blackout) and am basically disabled the next day to a point where I'd rather not sleep than take the drug.

I know these drugs are trash. But what do you do when you're advised to try coming off of them, under medical supervision, and you end up in a psych ward for 2 weeks? I think you go to a cannabis forum and desperately ask kind people like you guys what the hell I should do. I'm not having a hard time sleeping; its impossible to sleep without severely drugging myself.

I do not want to seem as if I'm complaining. But I am, so there it is. lol.

It’s not a cure for insomnia, but look into meditation, You can learn to quiet your mind and get restorative rest while still being awake. It’s a skill that has to be practiced but once learned may give you the opportunity to alleviate a portion of the negative side affects of both lack of actual sleep and strong medications.
I’ve never had insomnia but one person who I know suffered from it to where it had interfered with her opportunities in life, when I asked her how she moved forward with it’s impact this was her answer. It didn’t fix the insomnia but she said meditation gave her back some quality of life. All the best.

I just got out of a live doctor chat and she suggested that amongst other things initially, but ultimately suggested I go to the hospital. I don't want to go to the hospital, yet.

I think actual cannabis, in some form, of some specific 'knock me the fuck out' strain, is the answer. And by actual cannabis, I mean the stuff you guys enjoy. Not what I get from friends in Florida.

If penalties weren't so harsh here, I'd be assembling a space as we speak. If I could figure out a tiny stealth cabinet which would survive a search, I'd probably do it regardless of the penalties as I'd feel somewhat safe. Its starting to seem like my only option. So advice on that might help as well.

I would say look for a pure a indica strain. Read reviews from other growers about the strains they have tried. I would post this under the medical forum. Good luck, I hope you find your solution. Just please seek professional help if/when needed. Mental illness is no joke.

Sorry to hear of your situation. Personally what I’ve come to believe is that most if not all pharmaceuticals prescribed for someone may work with a clean sheet (no other Rx’s being taken) once your past that first one it’s a crap shoot if the Rx will work and if you’ll be one of those deemed allergic read “adverse reaction”, and remember the phrase “practicing medicine”, in this case you’re the guinea pig.
Find a good doctor and pharmacist, (not easy), go through everything your taking and come up with a plan to isolate any unintended, bad reactions, it’s not a fast endeavor, good luck.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. I've simply taken too much of these drugs for too long and they now not only don't work, but are causing unacceptable side effects.

I've got a lot of stuff in the works in regards to that stuff, but the appointments are months away. Growing cannabis is the answer for now. I actually got a 3 hour nap in just now, and feel fantastic. Telling that I automatically awoke after only 3 hours...I think I'm going to take 3mg of Lunesta right now. I have to parachute the garbage because it leaves a noxious chemical taste in your mouth if it touches your tounge or scrapes your throat.

Thanks so much to everyone for helping. Open to hear any growing advice. I've grown before but never harvested, so I have all of the equipment I need. I will be growing in a 4x8 tent and likely soil which I know little about. Here are the strains I'm getting (tons of freebies cause' bitcoin):
-Sensi Seeds 'Northern Lights' (5x) [Fem] - Only one I actually ordered (All rest Fem as well)
-Freedom of Seeds 'Diesellicious' (1x)
-Delicious Seeds 'Critical Super Silver Haze' (1x)
-Dinafem Seeds 'Big Kush' (1x)
-Barneys Farm Seeds 'Triple Cheese' (1x)
-T H Seeds 'DarkStar Kush' (1x)
-Emerald Triangle Seeds 'Royal Purple Kush' (1x)
-Duthc Passion Seeds 'Critical Orange Punch' (1x)
-G13 Labs Seeds 'Super Skunk' (1x)
-Sensi Seeds 'Jack Herer' (!!!!) (3x)

I vegged 2 plants for nearly 3 months in a 4x4 SCROG years ago. They were beautiful (humboldt blue dream). So I'm confident I can grow, but I am far from a master of-course. I'm confident any of these grown properly will remedy my situation.

Thanks again to everyone :)

Jacks or any sativa I would stay away from if insomnia is an issue.
Any and all kush is the answer.
My brother went through something similar, he did eventually ween away from lithium but spent about a month in the padded room. Fortunately I grew weed and weened home with rso oil. He now drug (big Pharmac) free. He takes tinctures that are low thc high cbd , he functions well. And hasn’t had an episode in 5 yrs. but the road was long and he did go through a lot of shit to get to this point. Keep at it bro. Once you have a supply, start the weening off with help from a angood mental health specialist. It can be done.

Man y'all are my people lol. I need to look into CBD more, I don't understand it well. I'm of the firm belief I would have likely not needed to be hospitalized if I had an array of proper cannabis strains in various forums available. The cops came twice. First time they couldn't take me involuntarily, and the second time they said the same shit but I knew they were taking me that time so I just went 'voluntarily'. I wasn't psychotic. I was hyper-verbal with way too much gas in my tank...Makes people uncomfortable eventually. I feel really good right now. I'm smoking the typical bud and it helps me eat for sure which I'd think helps me feel good. I'm not tired but I don't feel like its impossible to sleep.

Not to mention how therapeutic growing will be. So many benefits, and realistically hardly a risk. No one parties here or does drugs or any type of behavior which would attract a search warrant or any attention at all. The sheriff's department knows I am medical and keep cannabis in my house not from a dispensary but they have no interest in taking it. I'm literally talking about saving my life right now and I'm worried about these tiny potential consequences which would absolutely effect my life in no way...Its time to take charge and save my life. I'm going to figure out my medicine through cannabis cultivation and processing it into all the different forms. Still going to see a psych and take the trash for now, while continuing therapy. But I'm adding a new thing to the regimen and I think its going to save my life.

I am actually somehow agree with your answer. I think if he/she is still suffering with this problem then there are also other alternatives that can be used.

Thanks and Take Care!

I think growing itself like all the gardening is also good for the mind, something to do and something to care for:)I have friend with pretty much the same condition, diagnosed bipolar, she is also looking for something to help with her insomnia but we both think that wont be those meds! She is looking into CBD oils, but I give her homemade oils meanwhile:)With lots of THC I guess:)Her doctor is almost prescribed her marijuana by the way!:)She thinks it helps her a lot, sometimes we also smoke(but she prefers to eat or drink it,it healthier and helps more that way) but the insomnia is still a problem. It could be really nasty she said.:(2,3 days without proper sleeping:(She will try other herbs and teas along with these oils.Allready stopped most of her meds except one I think. Also calm down, chill, look into zen,she likes it a lot:)Sometimes these conditions are related with lack of microelements for the brain and things like that(i'm not a doctor but we both read about these things) so you can also change your diet along with other treatment. these pills sucks is our conclusion!!!:)
