e4, you've lost your edit button/link...? Glitch in the matrix, may need to hit up logic or TECK about that.
I recommend staying away from the DE top dress. I just did this and wish I'd gone with sand--it really wicks water up nasty style, and once you water over it it becomes fairly useless until it's dry again. It also splashes all the fuck over the place.

The sand will stay put and do the same job. They are both made of the same stuff--the sand particle size is just larger.
I actually thought about telling you about this (there's also the cracking that occurs once it's been on top of the pot for a while), but then figured, what for? He'll get it figured out faster'n I'll be able to type it up!

What are your thoughts on insect frass? I know there's directions for fungus gnats on the bag so why not put it in a tea. I'm just wondering if anyone has used it for FG and know if its effective.

Ya, i did a 1/4" top dress, but then a rep told me that was over kill... Didnt see any negative effects. Now i brew it at the end of my tea for an hour or 2, along with sea green. If u use a submersible ur tea system, use a tea bag for the frass, or use one of those pump bag/filter things, frass made a build up in my pump. Noticed that using it weekly in a tea= no gnats. DE helped to, but amend in my soil instead of top dress now.

Ive used caps bennies since they were first available to us farmers. I finally ran out and this is the first grow I haven't worked in some tea with caps stuff in it and I've had a few problems this run. For sure getting some more after I cut down.

From what I've read about insect frass is its a bunch of insect shit. It basically scares your plants into thinking that there being invaded by bugs and strengthens there immunity? ...From what I've read...

I love me some cap's, but in my experience it has not been able to solve fungus gnat problems. I'm currently giving microbe-lift bmc a shot.

Ya there is some other benefits other than that. That is the most common one i hear. I might have to throw a thread on about my findings on the product and how i apply. Need my computer!

Neither have I found relief using lots of Mosquito Dunks in the water I'm using for my stuff. So, I am now experimenting with emulsifying Neem oil, with a little bit of dish soap. Second day, using it on seedlings as well as rooted cuttings, and the numbers of FGs appear to be much reduced. It's time I change out the yellow sticky cards, but I keep forgetting to order or p/up more.

All seedlings got either Cap's root pack, or some Roots Oregonism. All the control seedlings failed. Everything's still showing FGs, but no real damage. They're annoying, more than anything else, though.

When I used the mosqueto dunks I crumbled them up on top of my soil and it worked better then putting it in the water.

gnatrol in all water.
sand or DE atop all soil.
water on 4 day intervals.

Still a flier or two now and then, but very low populations.
I have hope of eradication, and more importantly populations are down to where my plants are no longer suffering.
And when they suffer
so did I.

Stay strong.

Use more sand. You probably didn't have a thick enough layer. I have never seen this + mosquito dunks (applied correctly and diligently) not work.

Not ever, and fungus gnats are pretty much an every run thing around these parts--the fuckers really really like corn.
