$5k in Under Currents alone, probably a $10-12,000 start up before nutes but Im just guessin

... don't cool the air coming into the room, as you will not be able to control how much you bring in. Just put the ice box/fan units in the middle of the room, blowing any direction except directly onto a plant. This way, you can regulate the amount of air coming in, and thus be able to manage your humidity properly. This is the main reason that open rooms can work well. If your humidity is too low, slow down the air passing through your room. If humidity is high, crank it up.

Be sure to set up your icebox units so the fan blows air through them- this helps their efficiency and eliminates the possibility of condensation wrecking your fan motor.

Also, be sure to Suck air through the hood vents. I can go into boring detail about gas law, or you can trust me it will be much more effective, lol.

You're making me feel so incredibly slow here, how I haven't already thought of these ideas before. Check is in the mail. Thank you so much.

You mentioned this is your first grow. Im curious what the ticket was start to finish 10 thousand or more? The reason I ask is im looking to do do the same for myself but the start up cost scare me. Tks peace

I'd be glad to share my expense report with you, just PM me. By the way, I should mention the grow is actually going north to 15k by the time it's done with, but I've thus far thrown down 10k. *also important, I would be loony if I tried to do this all on my own from the get go, that was not the idea. Originally I had a grower hired to run the whole job, and I was just the finances behind everything. About 2 weeks into the grow, and after helping construct the entire room, he bailed out of the blue - so now this is me running what was originally supposed to be 'his' room without him, hence my reaching out for help on this forum.

hitting it on the dot. Luckily, I was able to score my UC/chiller used, so I got a pretty swell deal on it. Had I not, this would have costed exactly what you're thinking - about 17k total.

What if you dropped one of those Ice Boxes in your epicenter and used it as a chiller instead of a chiller coil?

I would not do this, as a 15' x 3/8" coil of HVAC copper tubing costs $20 and the ice box is $200- and the fins will clog and corrode.

It would work, it just wouldn't be the best solution.

first time car decides to go with a brand new Ferrari

Ooohhhh damn, kid- watch out for that long skinny pedal on the right! LOL

We are here to help- just give us as much lead time as you can, don't wait until something really turns before mentioning it.

Put a web cam on it, me and Stikks will fly it like a drone....lol...no really, I bet ya free sample of Sweet we can walk him thru it...lol.. even if it is his first time out on the track.....first ones the best, they're all down hill from there..

Plus he's just trying to salvage his position, gotta do what ya gotta do and keep on keepin on....no need to put up on craigslist at .50 cents on the dollar yet...lets kill some plants first...lol

Stainless steel wort chiller like the brew master use, you can daisy chain them together and use a single chiller on multiple UC's in a sealed loop

And even those are spendy. I use copper, bent it myself. Water to water cooling is very efficient and does not need a lot of surface area for heat exchange.

I have a security camera system setup, should have it hooked to the web in a bit. All the gauges & plants have eyes on them, as well as surround areas. Don't get me started!

However you ended up in your current situation, I admire your gusto, hard work and willingness to ask people with experience for tips. That approach all but guarantees success!

I hope they are not the IR type cameras. Plants can see infrared and will react just like you left a light on. Not good.

I am a dirt farmer, so to subscribe to a hydro thread is rare.
But the story is compelling, and you have gathered some great company, so I am looking forward to witnessing an explosion.
I'm excited for you.

Look into Cultured Solutions nutes, made by the guys who make the Under Current.

I respectfully disagree, with one reservation; I think a grower needs to get to know what s/he's putting in their garden, and using pre made nutes doesn't allow for that. I use Jacks and a broad palette of specific additives to get results- I know what everything does, why I use it and how it fits in the bigger picture.

The reservation is this; if the grower simply does not have the expertise to learn the nutrient game, then picking a nutrient line can make sense- but only in the following way: choose a nutrient line and follow it exactly, no deviations at all. If you want to let the nutrient company do your thinking for you, don't second guess their formula. What you are buying when you get these expensive nutes is NOT the fertilizer salts in them, it's the expertise of the nutrient maker.

and on that note, i'll follow the cultured solutions nutes bottle to the T... picked up the full setup a few days ago after getting advice to switch from the sensi grow to cultured several times on here

there is no shame in taking this approach. Learning this one step at a time is a great way to make sure you have all the pieces.

Sure thing, I can imagine the potential for success & variability is crazy when you can know your nutes so well that you more or less design your own forumla.. on this first harvest, it'd just be cool to see my money back, so trying to play it as safe as possible!
