Use Nutrilife SM-90 to prevent or treat bacteria, fungus and insect problems. SM 90 is prepared from natural plant oils - the organic composition of SM-90 is biodegradable and non-toxic to humans, animals and plants!

SM 90 is a good product to use from day one with your plants to keep them healthy and pest / disease free. Use as a foliar spray or root feed in both soil and hydroponics gardens.

Using SM-90 for Root Disease

SM-90 inhibits common anaerobic fungal and bacterial pathogens. Use for any root disease from ascomycetes pathogens including fusarium, pythium, rhizoctonia, phytopthera and sclerotinia. When added in small quantities to plant nutrient solutions, root disease infestations are inhibited and new root growth emerges. Treated plants develop greater root area and root runs and exhibit a generally healthier root development. Application rate: Apply 2 - 3 ml for each gallon of nutrient solution on a weekly basis.

Using SM-90 for Plant Infestations

Treat leaf or stem infestations by appying as a foliar spray. SM-90 eliminates many molds, mildew and leaf spot and is also effective for botrytis, blight, fusarium, leaf mold, rhizoctonia stem rot, sclerotinia stem rot and others. It also discourages and eliminates many common pests including aphids, thrips, spider mite, and whitefly. It is believed to act as a systemic to inhibit insect colonization and to deter reinfestation. Application rate: Mix 1 part SM-90 with 5 parts water. Spray directly on plant leaves and stems - be sure to spray entire plant as a prevention measure. Repeat every 3 days for up to 3 applications. Spray plants with water to prevent excess build during repeated applications.

An added benefit of SM-90 is an increase in metabolism and growth rate when used on a regular basis. A great choice for growers looking for a safe product to use on their consumable crops. Be sure to spray diluted solution within 8 hours of mixing. Keep away from sunlight.

NOTE: SM-90 will inhibit beneficial bacterial colonization. If you are trying to promote bacteria growth in your garden, this may not be a desirable additive.

I use it in my EZclone to help keep the spray nozzles and lines clean. I didn't know it is used to prevent or treat bacteria, it doesn't say that on the bottle it just says wetting agent. Thats good to know if your using beneficial bacteria.

I use it every third watering or so in a drain to waste soiless setup, and I like it. It promotes a healthier rootzone which we all know leads to healthier plants which leads to bigger and better harvests. Smells good too...:mmm

Thanks for the input everyone.

This being my first serious attempt at hydro I knew I was bound to run into problems.I had 2 plants in stand alone DWC buckets doing fine up until about weeks 3-4 in flower. The ppm was constantly rising & the pH plummeting quickly. The roots appeared a bit dark but no slime, hard to say if it was from the LK or not...so I added some pH up & set the buckets at 6.5 hoping they would at least be able to uptake nutes as the pH went down until I could figure out what was wrong. The SourCali didn't show any ill effects at plant level but the OGKxBS started burning & "ram horning"..leaf tips turning black before drying out.I checked the bucket temps & it had gotten as high as 73.5 which only promotes bacteria.I now believe it to be pythium and have added some SM90 to remedy the problem. After 48 hours everything seems to be back on track & pH is rising again slowly as it should. If anyone else is running with somewhat higher than ideal temps I believe this is a must have additive.Even if your room is ideal temp remember that these airpumps are motors constantly running & they get warm so you're pumping warm air into your bucket...and yes it does smell very good.

Guano, 73.5 is not that far out of range. If your ppm is "constantly rising" as you said the problem is with your initial mix of nutes, it's too strong. Once you find the uptake level of your plants the ppm will remain constant as the water level drops. You have found the one hurdle of hydro my friend.

No..because no matter what I had set the ppm at it kept doing the same thing.Plants don't go from 500-600 ppm being fine to suddenly 200 is too much.If it wasn't a root disease the Sm90 wouldn't have cured it.

The myth about SM90 contolling bugs or killing them is pretty far fetched. Dont let that fool you.

BTW Neem and SM90 are 2 TOTALLY different products that do different things.

your right about that!!

neem= extract from india's neem tree...

sm-90= big time foaming...

not gonna do ebb&grow..or dwc...lovin rockwool on top of coco, perlite and hydroton..drain to waste.

Had mites bad, nothing worked, bought SM-90, added it to the rez and foliar sprayed on proper schedule and the mites died. So it does work. It is SM-90 as in spider mite 90. That is what it was made for but it has other benefits such as killing certain bacteria. There was controversy but the latest info is that it only kills anaerobic bacteria (the bad kind that live when your O2 levels are low from warm water) and not the aerobic bacteria (the good kind that are beneficial to the soil and roots). The oxygen dissociation curve ... more available O2 in cold water than warm water. Plus most germs grow better in warm temps. It's a bad combo. So you keep your temps down and oxygen levels up and add sm-90 to stop germs from getting any kind of start.

It does work. I have been around the block a few times and didn't imagine it worked. It has made things so freakin easy and predictable with my PowerGrowers that it is almost boring now. Well not really but you get the drift. It's only fun times now. No hassles of battling the borg or stinky water and rotted roots. Just the joy of growing.

Get some sm-90 and start having fun.

When added to hydro or added to water used to water soil grows it gets absorbed by the plant and acts systemically to keep mites and certain other critters away.

It was sold in California but then it couldn't be sold as a pest control. So they sold it as a wetting agent. That is why some people have bottles that just mention it as a wetting agent. Yes it can be but it is my understanding that it can be improved by mixing with a real wetting agent like coco wet.

When I pick up clones from the medical clubs here in CA, they are known to sometimes have mites. Never thought much on the deal till one day when I brought a batch home I spotted mites. Since then this has happened time and time again. SM-90 is the shit. It kills mites with ease. I have never used it for anything else, only to kill mites. Shit works to notch for that. IMOP.

I'm gonna still disagree as I had a mite problem and all sm90 did for me is make my rez still smell good. Side by side on the tables with SM90 in 1 and not in the other and there was no difference. Roots, plants, feeding, health all the same. Do that with a product like Hygrozyme or Go Gnats and the difference is night and day. Thats what I base my answers on. Side by sides. I too have read that thread on IC. Its alot like the bushmaster thread with alot of people commenting on products they dont use or have very limited experience with. If I had relied on sm90 to take care of the problem I would have an empty grow room and an empty mom cab. I had to use a pine oil product like go-gnats as pest control which works like a champ. SM90 does however control the alge buildup in the domes and keeps everything healthy for my clones. I will say it works great in that manner. Well after using it for 3 + years strait I can say that "I've been around the block" also with SM90.

With all that being said if you want to control mites or bugs use a real bug zapping product as Neem or Azatrol will do 10x what SM90 could ever do for them. If you need control over root dieases and such give SM90 a whirl. BTW alot of Foliars will kill mites in the early stages. I used LK to kill them off some clones I got but wont suggest using that to "cure" your mite problem.

chemcris you are one of the few people I have run into that does not like sm-90 and I'm going to be one of the few people who doesn't like neem oil. To me Neem oil is a pain to apply, you have to get it on the mite to suffocate it so it doesn't get them in the grow area and you have to keep applying it. SM-90 you can spray down the growroom with. It would be messy to spray neem everywhere. Plus the SM-90 is systemic.

With that being said and we basically agree to disagree it is interesting how many times something works for one person and not another. Some people can't get a seed to sprout in dirt but do great with paper towel and then some people can only get good results with soil and fail every time with the paer towel method. Same with ferts, mediums, cloning techniques and indoor/outdoor.

This hobby drives me nuts sometimes.

I hear ya man. By no means am I directing this towards you. I love the debate and sharing info for people to make there own decisions. I too feel the same about neem as its a big PITA also (hence the reason I paid 80 bucks for a bottle of azatrol). I do agree however sm90 works great for rootzone and topical treatments of cuts and mediums. My main problem is the who bug side of it. Now granted I might have had a mite problem a little more severe and on a bigger scale then what yall had had which maybe the reason that SM90 didnt do anything for the bugs.

Amen on the Nuts bro!

Can someone that has used this product give me an application rate for foliar feeding. The bottle says 1 part sm90 to 5 parts water.Would that make a 1000 ml of water to 200ml of sm-90?I am really bad at math and I mixed it at this rate and sprayed my plants. It left a sticky film all over the plants. Is this right? Also a rate that has worked for the root zone(hand watering) and in the ez-cloner would be a big help...
Thanks

I dont use it as a foliar spray. Only as a soil additive which works very well, but yes 200ml SM90 to 1000ml water is a 1:5 ratio.
boy your math is even worse than mine...lol!:icon_cookie:

Oh, I use 2 to 3 ml per gallon of water along with my usual ferts for hand watering. Think I got that mix off the bottle. Never used it to fight mites, but it knocks the hell out of any fungus gnats. I personally used Neem foliar spray once or twice a week for nearly three months religiously and I'm proud to say I totally eradicated a light to moderate infestation. It has been nearly two years and I haven't seen a one. I thought after a prior defeat handed me by the borg that it was impossible, but I did it.
