Although i inspect my plants daily, my deadheads just started showing a few seeds on lower buds and after further insepection found a few tiny male flowers tucked underneath. Not the normal yellow ones but very tiny, non descript ones low on the plant - so easy to miss! I need to remove them from the room because i have three other plants in there i dont want affected. Does anyone know what would happen if i put them outside now, northern cali - would they finish flowering?

Remove the flowers, and let her finish;very common amongst pot to be a survivor,no matter what it takes!
Ya could also use some of the pollen to make femmed seeds offa your others,if there isn't already a couple seeds.
Anyway,I would not panic about a couple possible fem Deadhead seeds!

i already pulled them from the flower room and now they are out on the deck in the shade. I already put new plants in their spot. Damn, maybe too hastly, i just had a nasty experience with casey jones herming on my about the same time and i left them in room and just picked males off as i found them but still the # of buds were about 50% seeded in the end. I just got concerned about others in room. I know that plants like to herm towards end of flower cycle as a survival method but at five weeks - isnt that a little early for normal? Also im wondering if it is because of femmed seeds from cali or cuz i tried a little defolitation in vegg. Im certain their are no light leaks.

I'd be reinspecting that room. At 5wks is very early, IMO, and indicates undesirable genetics, a problem with the room, or in my case an infestation of root aphids. It was when rock solid 100% NO HERMY genetics hermied on me that I finally accepted the diagnosis.

I don't have any experience with feminized seeds, can't speak to that.

Know that you can prevent seeding by spritzing with water, daily if you're not sure you've got all the pollen sacs.

i definately want to get to the bottom of this issue. The two hermed deadheads are outside on the side of the house, i removed the pollen sacks i could find but they are very tiny, sneaky and hidden in tight spots. I still have two lost coast (same age and only one seed and no male flowers found on those yet)and a blue og i just put in. I did inspect room after i had problem with cj before this. No light leaks, good air flow, no disruptions except humidity climbs during dark but drops or i drop quickly when lights come on. What else could it be in the room. The plants are feed well (earth juice and supplements), no deficincies and in 5 gal happy frog soil. temps go from 65 dark to 78-80 lights

also, once a plant has been seeded, does it still produce thc in unaffected buds?

Not to beat the proverbial >dead horse<....but since you are in the thick of it and are looking for answers/at all possibilities....

You may be able to diagnose your problem with 2 words.... "Cali Connection". ("undesirable genetics" may also work) Search Google for >Deadhead OG hermie< and you will see you are not alone. I have no idea if this problem still exists in CC stock or if these are old or new seeds, but it cannot be denied that it was a serious problem for many growers who were on this board a few years ago and CC seeds are no longer sold here.

Doubtful you will have any unaffected buds (unseeded) if it dropped pollen, and the buds will likely be smaller....but it will still produce THC.

good luck

A great sign of seeded bud is premature coloring of hairs but other things cause that also week five is hell a early for ME to use pollen for fem seeds the only hermie pollen I use coma after growing a keeper two extra weeks

And I usually just use the pollen from plants that just grow those single bananas not the ones that easily grow full sacks or flowers... Idk how else to explain it but good luck

Don't forget to spritz, cali. It does a lot to prevent seeding.

thanks seamaiden - ur so helpful got another question for you since you are around, If a plant is almost six weeks into full on flowering and is put outside now at 13,5 hour days will it revert to veg or is flowering so established that it wont go back at this point?

My pleasure! I hope to see you achieve the best crop possible, given the circumstances and all. :)

If you were much closer to finishing I would be less concerned, but I've seen shit go wrong with only 2 weeks left to go.

Some plant will finish out fine and some won't ripen best example I can think of is indeterminate tomatoes and dj shorts flo which is known to keep fruiting and fruit ing if conditions are right I would shoot for light dep good luck

Never had a prob with Cali Connection,or Deadhead Kush;one of the most dankest bud in the world!
Any plant can hermie, but,I do not believe that root aphids or "cheap" ferts can cause a plant to "go" hermo.
Extreme temps, light leaks, lights coming on in the night cycle because of in correct timer setting,
genetics,a power on light from power boards shining in the night cycle etc are the most likely causes, but, who knows what is in seeds genes, and I find the most vigorous and potent plants have a shot a throwing a flower here and there.
Bubba Kush,Og Kush and others come from hermied seeds,so...what do we expect?

Some people stress to herm on purpose esque it's more potent when plant thinks its seeded but not completely seedy because plants programmed to jam as much as possible into the seed and then the rest around it to protect it take it with a grain of salt peace and chicken grease
