Looking to get a 2-3 ton ductless mini-split system, what are the best options? Cooling only unit.

It has to have pre-charged lines around 50' if possible.

It has to be silent!!! I've seen some outdoor fans rated at 45 dB which isn't too bad.

Just looking for one of those DIY mini split systems.... Not an HVAC guy myself so anyone can chime in that'd be great! It's going in a warehouse so the quieter the better.

Cheers.

Ideal Air has some nice ones but I'm sure you can find same specs for less $ online.

Yeah just looking for DIY mini splits. Can't have an hvac guy come in for security reasons so everything has to be pre charged.

For 4k but expanding to 6k soon. Bare bulb at the moment.

They are 100% DIY . All you need is a screwdriver. Even has quick-connect fittings for the lines. Good Luck

Ideal Air is garbage. With that said Mitshibushi is the best. They are not DYI. They are the quietest. 60 db is normal conversation and they are quieter than that (45 db or so). Ideal Air is "DYI" but I have repaired some right after install. Most of the cheap ones are loud and use more energy. Pay now so less problems later when you have money on the line with plants in the room. Get a pro to install and a pro unit. I am a HVAC pro.

I find mr.slim has the best reviews but tough to get someone in to prep lines, vacuum etc because of the security. My budget allows for 2500 including freight and instal so trying to work within those parameters. You make some valid points cannabisjohn.

Are there any diy models you recommend besides ideal air? I have also heard poor reviews about their products.

How's americair or whatever it's called?

I can honestly say I have not found a DYI that I can recommend but I understand your situation. Also be careful because I have seen some say they are DYI. But are not really. Make sure line set is sealed and gets punctured when you connect. Also use some type of loctite product when you connect lines. Good luck. If you were in SoCal I could get you 3 ton Mr Slim installed for around ur budget ( be bit over).

Mr. Slim is the best AC i've ever seen and heard working. The ideal air's are supposed to be getting better from what I've heard from my buddy who just bought one for 2500. The hydro shop owner he bought it from said that ideal air's customer service is really good up here in the pacific north west because they are based out of Washington. Apparently a technician will come out to service the ideal air if it malfunctions or is not set up correctly - from what I hear anyway. If it was up to me I'd clench my ass for a while and save up the coin to buy the Mr. Slim- its such a great machine.

I've had success with my Aura 3 ton. Comes with pre charged lines and I got it for 2300 out the door. I've heard of other people having problems with them, but mine works great.

Decent price. Looks like spotty availability. No bigger than 2 ton. They make a good product unless u want a remote stat.

I only work in SoCal so I understand that there are growers all over that I can't help so I want them to have the best also. So I understand ur help. I did not know about this until u mentioned it. Can't keep up with everything. Bottom line is that "DYI" units don't fix themselves so I always want growers to try and have a pro available. Anyway u didn't offend me.

I did have it proffesionaly installed though.

Good to hear that. I have worked and them and IMO the model I worked on was a POS. This was a few years back so they maybe better now.

I came across some diy units called caribou, was wondering if you have any information regarding them. They only seem to come in 18k btu max. Still leaning towards the 24k btu friedrich breeze, although that unit is back ordered and hard to source....

The thing is I want to expand to 6k soon and I feel the 36k would be ideal but ideal air is the only diy unit out there. I dont wanna drop couple grand on reflectors..... 6 x 2 (flowering flip rooms)

1 unit per room, bare bulb.... 12 x 17 rooms
