is your ballast magnetic or electronic?

the rf leak is the remote cord to the lamp - so just shielding the ballast wont do much

any service provider is going to cut you off if you are affecting other customers - period

Just get that coax cable away from your ballast and you should be golden. Magnetic ballasts do use more power. And about getting shielded ballast, there's a cheaper solution to that. Build or buy a metal cage around your ballast. Magnetic ballasts also emmit RF dirt in the air and in the electeical grid.

So metal cage (Faraday cage) like computer PSU and ferrite core like computer PSU and you're golden. Ballast are switching power supplies just like computer PSUs, LED drivers and basically all work the same stepping up voltage through high frequency.

This kind of cage for example:

Wow you are awesome! Thank you so much for all the info and pictures too! Your a life saver! Literally!..lol

You guys have all been great in helping me so fast! I deff do not want any more visits from the cable company or anyone for that matter. I am having the modem moved up a floor and on the complete opposite side of the house next tuesday...thats the earliest they could come. I made the joke to the guy on the phone I bet youd come faster if I plug my light back in..hahahaha...he didnt think it was funny..lol anyway I hope moving the modem and having all cables and cable related stuff moved/cut off to my basement and getting that cage and thing for the cord will solve my problem. If not I wont be able to grow at home!=(...Thing that also sucks is 4 of the 12 rather expensive seeds that just germinated are probably not gonna last but hell its better then getting busted! Thanks again guys! Ill post the outcome of moving everything next week!

Hey sorry for anymore questions but I think I measured correctly the diameter of my power cord and got 3cm or 30mm. All the ferrite cores on Amazon are only half this size. Could it be I measured wrong? How big do you think yours is? If i am right and Amazon does not have them I am assuming home depot prolly will...you think?

lol sorry im an idiot...i was mistaken and 30mm is the circumference...lol

I had the cable guy wanting in my house after switching to digital....I asked how he new it was mine and he said he had traced it here...I had just got over cancer treatment and he was not getting in my home...he installed a filter on my line and that fixed my nieghbors internet...he said he would be back but I sent the solis techs back and got galaxys grow amps and have not herd from the cable man..im in the dirty south so my grow could easily land me behind bars for 5 years...solis tech is aware of the terrible rf interference and have promised to fix it but evedently they have not done shit yet...if ur a home grower dont buy solis tech..im not sure but I think alot of the cheaper ballast have rf.....

Man I beating myself up over not having read this post a few hours ago before ordering the solis tek...I was on the phone with one of their reps yesterday for almost an hour and got assured that their rf shielding is great and how I will not have problems..again Im blocking all cable outlets with f type terminator caps and having all cable and my modem moved up a floor and across the house...Im gonna turn on the solistek on tuesday before the cable guy leaves and make sure im good. If it gives me problems, aside from being beyond pissed, Ill have to return it and get the galaxy which is the same price, but by then my 4 expensive seedlings will be to big to not have sufficient light and im afraid will die...crossing my fingers

Thanks for the heads up. I been looking at Solis.

Well considering I get my solis tek on Sunday and cable guy gets here on Tuesday Ill post again with results...not saying @jeff1962 is wrong but everybody's experiences are different...i hope

@jeff1962 Do the galaxy grow amps fit most hoods or do you need one of those adapters like for the xtrasun magnetic ballast?

Well good news! for me anyway...I was able to cancell the order for the solis tek before it shipped and got the galaxy grow amp tubo select a watt...it arrives moday thankfully the day before the cable guy gets here but im still going to have him check for rf disturbance before he leaves....i feel good about this!..lol

I was looking at the new maximum yield magaz ine today and Nannalux is makeing an rf interference adapter that is supposed to eleminate the majority of interference...dont know the price, today was the first time ive seen anything to help rf...im glad u got the grow amp, u will be satisfied....

quantums seem to work best and one of the first rf shielded ballasts. they make aN RF shielding paint you can use one your walls and ceilings that can help as well. just google RF shielding paint. pretty sure your cell phone wont work to well if at all near the area though

Yes I am...Also I just read a few post about the same thing happening to people on grasscitys fourms. I feel stupid I didnt know this could happen and feel lucky my plants were not of any size for me to really take a loss. Now I am just out four expensive seeds. I read about getting a digital ballast with rf shielding built in but read that it could still cause a problem. What if I switched to a magnetic ballast? Would I have to worry about this issue at all?
magnetic ballasts do not cause the same rfi interference, i highly doubt they would cause this, i have 8 1kw ballasts mounted to the wall right beside my powerbox where all my wires come in the house(cable, internte, electricity) and have never ran into and rfi problem
