Forest Soil...ya Ever Use It?

Theres a park/forest close to where I live and its full of diff plants, trees, and some patches of mushrooms here and there, the air always smells nice and fresh and the soil looks lush, anyways just wondering if anybodys ever used just soil from the forest and brewed into a tea (including some molasses?)

This popped in my head today while smoking there and wanted to try it out for fun and see the difference between forest brewed tea from the stuff I have at home. Let me know yer thoughts farmers. Stay up. :cool:

Ive read forest humus is some of the most microbe rich soil there is,brewing a tea with it should work,let us know.

Hell yeah since it rained here a few weeks ago and there is a bit of sun theres tons of new green growth I'm sure theres tons of stuff we can't get from single organic amendments we buy at stores. Im most likely gonna take my dog walking there today and grab soil from the different areas around (soil at base of trees, soil around patch of shrooms, soil at the base of different plants and bushes) ill definately keep you guys posted on how it goes! @GrowingGreen @fishwhistle

Yeah, I brew it in my tea sometimes. All you need is like 1 cup of soil, so you don't need to be digging holes. I'd say taking more than that is unethical. But that is what brewing tea is all about, getting a variety of microbes and bacteria. Microbeorganics, check out his website. It's legit, he suggests this practice. Also, using stream water for your teas vs. tap water, things like that 'may' help out.

I havnt done it yet but maybe a collage . where ever test soil in your area i guess. maybe theres a report by some agency or whatever that already tested the area. Sorry cant help.

What up guys so I have a question, I just brewed up 1 gallon of worm castings and a half tea spoon of molasses and fed it to my plants. Since I used to use synthetics previously I never foliar fed my plants and was wondering if you could foliar feed worm cast tea if you recently watered the soil with some? I wasn't planning on foliar feeding just yet since the lights are on right now but they go out by 10am (it is 12am here) and I planned on doing it as the lights go off, just wondering if this is a good idea.

Im going tommorow to collect forest soil ive been busy but I got an idea from the link shem posted, im gonna cook some rice as a substrate/carbohydrate source put in a Tupperware, cover it with a plastic film with holes, throw the forest soil on top, put the lid on with holes and throw it in a box with a heating pad and wait for the mycylium to build up and then brew it :cool:

Yeah just like you said, it is a no no im trying to build up the microbial life in my soil not wipe it out im skeptical about bags from home depot.

Plants love tea foliar feedings. You want to time out your tea time with your lights though and use freshly brewed tea. The microbes start dying and your tea turns anearobic without air. I never let my tea sit for more than a few minutes before use. You asked if foliar spraying was okay if you just watered with tea; you could literally only use EWC tea for all watering and spray everyday and do no harm. Its great stuff.

From your experience does it matter if its used when the lights are off or as they come on? This tea has been brewing for a day and half, I fed em yesterday afternoon when I knew the tea brewed for 24 hours, i still got the air pump on it and manually stir it every few hours. I only used those two things because I wanted to foliar feed and not burn em by using a tea with other amendments, which I plan on doing today after I foliar feed. I wanted to add some amendments to the left over tea (sea kelp, alfalfa etc) and possibly a pack of mykos from extreme gardening. Or should I just brew a new batch? @Underthesun thanks for taking the time to answer boss!

I'm an outdoor/greenhouse grower, and someone may have more info than I do for indoor. I usually sparayed when it was cloudy outside. I'm sure somebody thinks one way is better than the other but with my limited knowledge I don't think there would be much difference.

As for adding stuff after its brewed for 2 days already, I would just brew a new batch. Seriously though, read that microborganics page if you haven't already. This guy lays out answers to most questions when it comes to teas.
