That sounds like a really good idea. Do you use drywall mud, crushed sheet rock or what?
Usually i just crumble up some drywall, soak my starts in weed killer and let em sit in a pile of drywall on the floor for a couple weeks. Then its uppot to a 1 gallon container filled with sticks and mud amended with ammonia

Usually leaves will retain strange shapes until they fully mature and flatten out. I think this could be all your seein.

Personally dude, id slurry test and find out the ph of my soil. If its too low id try either amending with something that raises ph or switch soil.

What soil are yu using?

The only reason i say this is that when your ph runs too low it locks out your N causing your leaves to yellow. If this is the issue. A boost in N wont help, youll need to adjust your ph into the 6-6.5 range to help your plant uptake the N.

Id also consider amending with earth worm castings to create life in your soil. This will help buffer the ph of anything you water with.

Just a couple suggestions from a fellow beginner and soil grower :)

So in short. If the ph of your soil. Or the ph of your nutrient mixed water is too low it could lockout your NITROGEN and cause leaves to yellow. this would be a good move to make to try and cross out possibilities. If your still having this issue once youve tried what i suggested then i have no idea what the problem is @SL8R

Remember this is all just imo
