has anyone ever tried to use a small army of lady bugs to patrol an indoor garden? I only ever have a problem with mites and was thinking about putting a few ladybugs incmy tents but wasnt sure if they would reproduce or cause damage somehow. any info would be great

I found an assassin bug the other day and put him in my tent, last round I had spider mites, earwigs, fungus gnats and maybe root aphids. I got some nematodes from arbico.com and I have only seen a few gnats since.
I found one leaf that looked like it had a mite on it but when I scoped it it wasnt moving and looked dried out so I probably got him with the greencleaner that gravekat mentioned.
Arbico sells green cleaner and ladybugs...

ive tried the ladybugs a few times, and unless conditions are perfect for them they will perish, you would need alot of healthy mites to keep the ladybugs alive

Don't use this crap unless you have to you can handle most mites with green cleaner (its organic....whaaaaa) and you can use it late in flower unlike the poison mentioned above (whaaaaa) not saying I've never used avid or floramite but that was along time ago and I was lazy
The active ingredients in green cleaner are alcohol and soybean oil, and it works with no ill side effects if used correctly.

I have just got spidermites.

I sprayed most of the plants this morning with a spray that contains Fau-Fluvaunate and Myclobutanil.

I have used it before, it works well on spidermites.

The miticide part is the Fau-Fluvaunate, and the Myclobutanil is a fungicide.

I want to get a miticide without the Myclobutanil as apparently it's ok for food crops but not approved for tobacco, as burning it gives off a poison gas.
Myclobutanil is also called Eagle20 in some brands.

Obviously I didn't get all the mites as I had a look tonight and on one plant they were all dead, at least they weren't moving so I assume they are dead, and on another plant they were still moving around.
Have to get another bottle tomorrow and spray the one's that are still alive.

Also saw lots of eggs as well, don't know if I will have to spray them when they hatch.

The plants have not suffered much damage from them so far, so I think the infestation has just started.

I have used lady bugs indoors many times. You only need 5-10. Then repeat every 2 weeks.

Some of the bugs take 2 weeks to eliminate, one spray is just not enough. Think behind, and ahead and make sure it never happens again. If you can release 30 ladybugs right when lights go out, you can find and count them the next day. Some will be dead and easy to find, other ones will die that day. Its easier to use them ladies outdoor. I love em!

To prevent lady bugs from fleeing your grow space put them on the most infested plant, keep them in a container for two days before releasing them, put a wet sponge in the container so they have water now they know they have h20 & food and will stay. If that doesn't work you could cutt off there wings or glue them shut to keep them from flying into the lights.
