I have an agromax, I belive HTG makes them, am very happy with it. Metal frame and canvas, as long as those two criteria are met I don't think brands matter that much. Has some pinhole light leaks around some seams but I have never had them cause issue.

Yeah it's kind of impossible to not have light leaks from what I see. How can I fix the leaks? Forsay pin holes, can I just put like aluminum furnace tape over the holes from the inside? Sorry guys for so many noob questions I could probably just dig a little further in the forum to find my answers.

Yeah, they have caused no issue for me. If you want to fix, I think you are on the right track, little foil tape on the inside.

I should point out, cause it was a funny site to behold, but I could see the growlight coming through the holes when I turned out the light in the room however I zipped myself into the tent and saw no light from the room coming through into the tent. If it did, it was low enough to not be perceived by my eye and guessing not enough to effect plants.

I concur!!! He'll I have all my vents open in a room that I have the light on sometimes and some light cones thru the blinds and never causes a problem. I mean bro, there is moon light right?? So light leaks from pin holes don't seem to be that big of deal.

Hey Packs - I've got a gorilla and a Hydrobay. Bought the gorilla first, and I've been impressed with pretty much every feature, especially how impervious it is to light. I then bought a Hydrobay off amazon and did this because I didn't need total darkness since the tent was going in a room that I could completely close off.

I was shocked to see that the Hydrobay was decent quality. Far exceeded my expectations. Again, I didn't need the quality of the gorilla. I'll probably never buy a gorilla in the future. The hydrobay was $199.99 for 48"x96"x80".

Does it leak light? Yes.

But, it does share some of the same features as a gorilla. Lots and lots of ports. Nice strong metal frame (though I wouldn't try using it for monkey bars), good reflective material all around, the tent material is a nice thickness, and there is a full floor tray that doesn't flop over like some of the brands.

Worth a look for your needs, maybe?

Ive bought 3 tents, one of them being a hydro bay tent. The hydro bay tent has the best poles but it leaks light like a siv. The best light blocking tent Ive gotten was also the cheapest and best built as far as fabric and design was a milliard.

Also, imo gorilla tents are way more than 200 more than others. Theyre pricey af. Not too hip current prices on the grow labs n hydro huts, i remember theyre were the top line back when the tent craze started.

A lot of the generic cheap ones on amazon come from the same source. Surely theres multiple manufacturers for em but likely that theres plenty of brands running exact same tent just their logo. Thats how the chinese roll, hit their minimum order to be profitable (ex:200 tents) a price break, and theyll slap ur logo on it for free. Ive dealt with them on many items with branding stuff. I dont care enough to research but wouldnt be shocked if the "big name tents" are from the same factory.

Last thing, check craigslist! Id grab a cheaper tent new off amazon, Id never consider a gorilla tent new, its insane $ and would build a room for cheaper. Im contemplatin on a larger gorilla tent as not building a room out (well i got 2 walls framed haha)for a bit . Stumble across the 10x10s from 500-1k, beats the i believe 1600 price new. But if you can manage with the standard height tents...go that route. Gorilla are certainly good quality but the height is its key benefit/appeal
