Oh, I really need to know at this point. Is there anytime during the flowering cycle when it is NOT OK to defol her?

Well what I do and what I will have you do is different..
Because we have diff setups...
And the plant itself will dictate that by its growth...
Right now we just want veg growth, good node spacing, and then we will promote laterial branching,
and start lst...

I dont have but a few mins cause i got lab work and a specialist to see today, but in quickness let me add...

You can see why its so important to start off the plant as healthy as poss...
Nurturing just like a baby... You wouldnt take your newborn to the beach and you shouldnt the seedling either..
I know by now that you have faith in the advice on moving lights away further..
You got a better distribution now I see..
That was smart...
Im sorry I had to force you to the bargaining table with the distance,
but I knew that you would fall in line just like all the other padawans such as Myself :)

We got about another week till we start lst...
Its about a 6 week procedure in soil..
About 3-4 week procedure in coco
About an 8 week procedure for you since we put bay bay kids in the sauna straight out the delivery room :)

Might as well kick your shoes off, and have a seat, its gonna be awhile....
Mean time just be a good pappy, and keep the kids happy..
Talk to them, you can raise the ppm of the c02 in there to 1000 ppm as you talk,,
If your a talker, or your ole lady gets to nagging, make her nag at you in the grow room :) hahahah

lol see you guys later after the dr....

I was asking about the flowering plant in the photo but thx anway :) I have been listening

A 250 watt hps would be dope. Particularly the air-cooled reflector hood. At least you know how many watts are being used.

Might not even need a sealed hood for a 250, could probably get away with a regular fan blowing on the light.. IMO.. A sealed hood will cost you a lot more and then you will have to buy an inline fan and ducting etc.. Open hood is a lot cheaper and for 250 watts i bet would be fine.

Of course this also depends on the climate you live in, if its 85-100 f everyday then you might want to look into sealed hood options/air conditioning.. maybe even a swamp cooler to keep humidity up at the same time..

veg for 8 more weeks? even though he only has 300 or so watts to work with for flower? I would think thats a lot of plant for such a small light to cover.. Of course my experience with growth in soil is extremely limited so i don't know...

I think from what I've read a lot of people defoliate at certain points of flower like beginning of week 3. I have also read that it can help if you want to stop the plant from stretching so much cause when you defoliate it stresses the plant a little. Ive also read that it can make them act funny if you mess with the top 3 fan leaves from the top of the colas.

I'm from Arizona so I am well aware of what a swamp cooler is. But now I live in Michigan and when I say that word around here I get some pretty funny looks. Lol

I second this!

No not for 8 more weeks. I mean he wasted 2 weeks, and it takes 6 in soil, so its an 8 week adventure,,
And we are gonna scrog a 3x3, so 6 weeks in soil.. prob 4 weeks in coco,, prob 2 weeks in my UC.
My new toy
I likey!!!!

Haha.. I had never heard of one until i stumbled upon them on some google searching.. going to build one or buy one on my next round as I'm getting to the point i don't really need to add much humidity anymore.

@Snakeskins thats for bug spraying (i think) not for humidifying, also i don't think he is using tents

Ah got it

here are my thoughts

every watt puts out heat
250w will put out 250w of heat
if you are running 300w of cfl then there is 300w of heat there

HPS are very inefficient
a 250w hps @ best is putting out 75w of usable light....the rest is pure directed heat
so 250w hps is actually less effective than a 4 bulb T-5
one of the fantastic reasons why new COB LED's are so hyped is because you get more usable light out of the same wattage
a 250w led COB array may get up to 150w of usable light
yes CFL's are even more ineffecient
but with every light source...you dont want max light in VEG
you only need max light in flower
your CFLs can be raised just like any other light source
and when the flowers begin to develop you then slam your lights down as close as possible without light/heat burn

as for defoliation
anything after day 14 of flower will have diminishing returns
remember
defol isnt for everybody

in the case above I would only selectively defol....*mostly large fans blocking lower bud sights*
as for longer veg time
I believe Event is directing him to open up his plant with scrogging to get as many tops as possible
this is a perfect technique for low budget lights with very little depth penetration
allowing many tops to recieve max light
the longer you veg and train
will allow for more tops

Ah got it
I think its a humiditor.. A fog machine at concerts except mini for at home dmx productions :)
For like parties... But will work for Rh..
I know I read of some ppl using them!!!
I know I did...
