i used a trellis on my previous grow and it was great at spreading the canopy but i didn't let it grow into it as much as i'd have liked and my canopy was only 6-10" deep and i'm sure the thin canopy destroyed my yields. my first grow was 850w 25'sq yielding 17oz buds and 1.5oz kief, second grow was 1600w 45'sq and yielded 15oz marketable bud 1oz kief and about 4oz of snicklefritz. second grow was with the trellis.
long story short the next time i use a scrog trellis i'll stretch them into a first trellis and set up a second trellis about 6-8" above that and as soon as that second trellis is almost filled i'll flip into 12/12. just my experience with the trellis, that grow had PM and oversized pots and overdefoliation so it might've been all of those things lol. i've got a few pictures of the trellis from bloom week 1 - 6 on my last grow for reference if you want to check them out, i hope i learned from my experience lol.
this grow i'm not doing a trellis and letting them grow au natural- with some training in veg and early flower (bending, supercropping, and FIM where appropriate) until the buds start to drop the stems when i'll tie up the droppers (taut line hitch, i actually constructed my trellis using this knot and paracord i also hang my lights and secure any hanging thing with the taut line hitch and >75# paracord it's a simple knot but it slides AND locks wherever you leave it while remaining movable when pressure is applied to the knot itself. it has infinite uses in life and especially growing and boondocking, not people safe but absolutely item safe under 100#

*edit fuck it i love bringing up old shit so here's the trellis
