Was friends with the band seldom scene...Great band, that John duffy lol...
T Michael Coleman and Mike Aldridge from the scene started a band Chesapeake and went on tour with Doc.
they did a show at Chatqua? SP? Boulder..musta been 20 years ago
Got to meet Doc backstage after sound check. We were sitting there chatting and Doc did not like the smell of the carpet, being blind his other senses are way sensitive I reckon..
He asked me to lead him outside for some fresh air...
We sat in the Sun on folding chair, Doc was so pleasant to chat with..
Folks came and greeted doc and the love he showed each person was heart warming..
One lady in particular Doc recognized by voice asked how her daughter was and held her on his lap..
We sat for sometime chatting in the warm Colorado sun and then we went for dinner sat next to Doc, he took a shinning to me it seemed..
A few years later at Rocky grass gave doc and Jerry Douglas a ride from downtown lyons to backstage at the festival in my 54 GMC truck, Jerry saw the truck and commented he also has the rare 54 model.....
Also met Vassar, made him dinner once pre show in Denver, I asked him a few years later if he remembered that dinner and he beamed how could I forget..fried chicked mashed taters, black eye peas, corn bread chocolate pie for desert...
Old timey musicians that were the real deal..
Doc was huge but way humble, story gos his daddy made his first guitar out of a cat hide...
He did a few shows a bit later and met my parents, very kind
Old doc was to his fans..
