Yes I know but I cant buy the emendments I need in these small quantities to just do one or two 5 gal pots, if I was buying everything frome scratch I'd just go no till(which I will) this is just a cheap option for the meantime. Only 20$

Are you saying to grow in strait fox farms or roots? Instead of super soil.....

I would start with them, get some amendments too,you will still need em for the no till anyways, super soil is basically same as no till other than a few things, similar concepts though.

Ive been running SS for a few years. The second mix is much better. I've ran both.

Have you done water only with good results with the second mix?

Yes I have. Honestly the main thing if your going to water only is add molasses around week 6 every couple waterings and just be cautious on not to over water I can't stress that enough.

Ya I plan on doing molassis waterings and kelp, castings, malted barly teas(and maybe bokashi). Hopefully the fabric pots will help with watering.

Have you used any soil brands with SS other than fox farms or roots? 40$+ for a couple bags to make the super soil with, plus a few bags to top off the pots is quite pricey. Was hoping I could use one of two local products, either Tims organic soil or tanks green stuff. Id like to mix my own soil, but again, id have to buy the emendments in larger amounts than I would need so it would be quite pricey.

I'd say you could use local varieties as long as it seems like good soil to you.

@erovinnaC is correct.
Learn what each does!
Both are bad, they work but not ideal.

What does fox farm or roots provide... not shit! I mean why build a soil if you're just gonna use shit?

Compost teas jump start, why jump start every two weeks! Cause your soil is weak!

What is biowar? Bennies? Shouldn't your soil have better than they offer!?

What is molasses? What is photosynthesis?
What does it feed?
What competes with your plant?
What dies off when the molasses is gone?

Your super soil is so super that you gotta add these!?

Have you used any soil brands with SS other than fox farms or roots
why build soil then?

id have to buy the emendments in larger amounts

Not true!

Super soil and TLO is a waste and completely the opposite of building soil.. do they work, yes! But so does advance nutes!

If you wanna build your soil, it's way easier and last for years with just top dressing!

Don't believe? Learn about every amendment!

I think you need to reread everyrhing, you say why build a soil if I am going to use shit..... I never said what I would be using when I build my soil.

I understand SS doesnt compare to building living soil, this is my cheaper option in the meantime. You seem like a real negative person. Nothing wrong with an organic tea every once in a while.

I just looked up TLO. True living organics, how would that not be good? Wouldnt and no till bed be TLO?

@brazel I always love people's opinions bro, but I've read all the same stuff you've read before. At the end of the day you learn from field experience, not found in books. Heavily amended soil isn't weak. Happy Growing
