Im sure you can pull it at 8 weeks, as long as you like em green! Alot of these guys pull at 8 for extracts. Let me asj, wgats your favorite coco? The botanicare bricks are ok but you really have to buffer the shit out of them or you get stunted growth for a week or two.
I'll definitely be watching it closely to see how fast she starts getting ready for "fall". Interesting about 8 week pulls and extracts. I have not delved very far into rosin and extracts. I wonder if it comes out cleaner or less stoney hmmmmm.

Every time I go to get some from my hydro store they give me some weird face like this :eyepiece: and say "....you want pure coco?"(It has me bust up laughing inside every time LOL) Then they proceed to show me what they have and it's literally been different every time which is a bit annoying. First I'll tell you what I don't like at all.

Roots Organics Coco had springtails inside of it which isn't bad if I had bought soil, but coco I'm going for clean and bug free. I think that was more of a storage issue in the hydro store than it is Roots Fault as I have gotten other company's bags with springtails from them before. Probably storing it too close to soil IMO. The deal breaker on Roots Organics was a very fine grind of pith. Basically it's already too broken down to be used effectively in a hydro setting. Here's an example pic. You can literally see the difference.

Botanicare VS Roots Organics

I do love the Botanicare bricks because of affordability they tend to have a bit more fiber mixed in which means more drainage and faster drying times. Of course like you said the botanicare needs a nice buffer with either calmag or a solid hydro base that has cal/mag in it but it's definitely a solid reliable one to go with. I messed with Atami coco pre buffered and it seemed to work out well. It wasn't as fine as roots nor as airy as botanicares. Canna coco is really nice and I've noticed they started producing it in prebuffered bricks which is awesome.

Currently on this run I'm running Char Coir Coco coir. Seems to be one of the better mixes I've had.

If i had to list my top favorites in descending order right now it would be.
Char Coir loose(have not tried bricks)
Canna loose(have not tried bricks)
Botanicare Bricks(Not a fan of the loose mixed with perlite)
Atami loose

I knew i could count on you for the info. Ive only really used botanicare bricks so far. I do have one pot with springtails because the clone came in promix that had them. I have some trouble finding straight coco except the bricks usually honesty. I like the faster drying qualiry of the bricks for when im multi feeding.

Right on bro. Yup dang springtails. At least they are fairly mild compared to most pests. They generally disappear over time as the girls get more established as you've probably noticed. It's funny how pure coco is somehow an outlier in some areas. It's perfect as is without any extra inputs. Never saw any benefit of adding perlite to the mix aside from the coco hempy passive reservoir but that's a different topic.

Bricks are truly awesome. Guaranteed quality. Doesn't break down because it's bone dry/dense and doesn't hold any pests for the same reasons. Saves space too. Really the only hassle is hydrating them :p, but a small price to pay for insurance I'd say:smoking:

I did a comparison back when i first saw you mention using straight coco. Definitely no need for perlite. I did consider running some hempy style but i want to try smaller faster plants first and see what i think.

What’s up everyone:smoking: Just happened to be around when the lights turned off so I decided to snap a few pictures before the week 6 update. More colors and a stronger nose is on the approach.

Hope you enjoy:D

Yo homie! I'm hoping the color comes out even more. It is since my last pictures but I wonder how much more the progression will be.

Week 6(Day 42) FLOWER Royal Highness(Humboldt Seed Company)

Alright we are going pretty good right now :D

Everything is frosting up and getting a bit more dense. Colors are coming out a bit more. Currently riding my pH at 5.8-6.0 as always. Either today or in the next few days Veg+Bloom(Base) will be lowered to 1.25-1.5g per gallon and Shine(PK) will stay 1.25g per gallon. I may raise Shine to 1.5-2g but I'll most likely just leave it where it is. My logic is that if I drop my base to roughly 50% for the last few weeks coming then Shine should keep PK levels where they are but N will drop off.

In the future I plan to try a true run(not just one small auto) with just the Base and no PK for comparison as I've seen some really nice pictures with only the Base being used and my auto LSD-25 did just fine with only the Base under HO t5's

LSD-25 on nothing but Base.

Week 7(day49) FLOWER of Royal Highness by Humboldt seed company

Time sure does fly doesn't it.:smoking: I am already entering the final late stages of flower.

Still riding my pH at 5.8-6.0 as always. Tonight will be the last feed with Veg+Bloom base. From here on out it will be shine at 1g per gallon until 4-5 days before harvest and from then on pH’d tap water.

Things to work on and consider:
  • Canopy Management: Honestly did not do much Defoliation this time around aside from the very bottom fan leaves. I want to start playing around with it more. I also need to get better at judging the stretch. These got too tall and once again I could have gone with about a week less of veg.
  • Automatic Feeds: I have a minute timer and a pump but I just need to start putting things together here :drunk:
  • Lighting: I have been hearing good things about CMH and COB's. Might be thinking about trying one of those lighting systems out here soon in the future.
I am loving the colors that are coming out on this strain!

She does mature fast! Beautiful color too
Ya man I'm definitely starting to believe the suggested shorter flowering time on this strain judging by how the trichs are coming along. Says basically 8 weeks. I'm thinking I'll be closer to 9 since my environment isn't perfect like a breeders but more than likely not longer than that. We shall see.

Week 8(Day 56) Royal Highness(Royal Kush x Cali Dream x Trainwreck)

Just cruising along here enjoying these fall colors coming out:cool: Still riding my pH at 5.8-6.0 as always and feeding once a day. Since day 49 they have been getting only Shine(PK) at 1g per gallon. I'll be doing this until 4-5 days before harvest and from then on pH’d tap water at 150ppm or 0.3EC

Things to consider:
I might have to run some outdoor plants this season for fun. I love playing with quality soil and it's been a little while since an outdoor grow. Debating if I want to have fun with some auto seeds I have or test out some normal photoperiod seeds. Maybe both as I have a nice little stash. We shall see!

Nutrient Thoughts:
So have you guys heard of Mega Crop by Green Leaf Nutrients? I've seen a few threads about it here and there. It seems to be a solid 1 part hydroponic nutrient. Very similar to the simplicity of Veg+Bloom, Maxibloom, and Jacks Hydro.

I have wanted to try Jacks but never got around to it because I didn't feel like buying 4 pounds of base and calcium nitrate if I ended up not liking it although I can't see why I would not. Apparently Mega Crop is just as affordable as Jacks but actually has a few more additives mixed into the base much like Veg+Bloom. Very informative website that is well put together but good websites don't grow plants. I have a free sample coming my way so I'll give it a shot at some point and see how it goes against Veg+Bloom. It's more affordable than Veg+Bloom(which is already pretty cheap haha) mostly when it comes to bulk pricing.
