Digging begins

I’ve been growing in the ground for a while now, and I just re did my orchard this year. I wish I had a backhoe, I used my front bucket so my holes are 5 feet wide now, lol.
I think what you are doing is great. Make certain the indoor lighting is matched to natural light timing before they come out to stay. The only problem that I have run into with holes is that my original holes were only 6feet apart. That the main reason for the redo.
The only benefit to bags that I can see is they keep your garden soil from slowly migrating into your holes. I have never used protection underground with wire, etc. , and have been lucky, but 18 inch cages big enough to allow a good football to be established wouldn’t hurt. I’m jealous you have plants growing since 17. Can’t wait to see them.
