The tv was in a huge piece of furniture back then. It was the biggest thing in the living room with a relatively small screen.

Now it’s a flat picture hanging on the wall wirelessly linked to our flat phone device with its own little tv.

Progress. We are all even dumber than when we got hooked on the “boob box” way back then.

And we have a search function now. Lol.

I beg to differ on the tv being the biggest. Don’t forget about the record player/am-fm unit off in the corner. Damn thing was huge.

My dad was a hobbyist and had catalog ordered and DIY built vacuum powered amp and cassette player, record turntable andnof course his old reel to reel tape player.

So a component system. Late 70’s early 80’s was my time frame. Big radio sounds like 50’s 60’s ?

I was 8 then. So you may be right on the time I am remembering. Learning about Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons project with my dad.

He showed me how the different speakers in a 3 way big wood speaker he built sounded with a graphic equalizer.

The bass was just bumpety sounds and thumps. The tweeter made high pitched squeaks and squeals and the mid range speaker sounded like an old turned down am radio.

Then he pushed all the sliders back up together and the big sound of dark side of the moon came together.

I have been into music and instruments ever since. :-)
