Hello all,

I'm starting a small grow op in socal areas. Anywhere between 3,000 to 6,000 sqft. After doing my diligent research, it seems like getting a commercial warehouse in socal brings up a host of complications, and the one that bother me the most is the annual fire safety inspection. I read some posts in one of the forums here suggesting that I can get a warehouse but do not register to do business there. That way I can be a ghost and fire department won't come down to inspect every year. With that being said, I have a few questions and concerns that hopefully some of you may be able to point me in the right direction.

if you don't file for a business license to run a business at said warehouse, how are you going to get power and water for the building? Doesn't that raise red flag or questions to the city when they see no business operating there but water and power are being used?

If being a ghost business at a commercial warehouse is not the best idea, are there ways to avoid the annual fire safety inspection or are there certain cities that do not perform said inspection?

I'll be very grateful for any valuable inputs. Thank you so much for your time and insights.

I'm open to any of those areas, as long as I know i'm not going to be bothered by fire safety inspection every year. Right now i'm looking to lease.

Register and do it right would be my advice. But its only advice

what do you mean by doing it the right way? are you referring to getting a grow license and be a compliant grower? If so, I don't think it's that easy to get a license to grow here in socal without spending hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars as far as i'm aware. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.

your better off looking for something in Riverside/perris/Lake Elisnore Area..... if your in OG that way you don't have to deal with the Traffic

that's my ultimate goal but here in socal, just like basscaptain said, it's ridiculously expensive to get a license, and you gotto pay to "make friends" with the right people if you know what i mean. Not only that, but being a compliant grower, your expenses are going to go up the roof with all these extra COMPLIANCE expenses. The system is designed to only work for the big ballers who have millions to invest. The system was never designed to give us little guys a chance. it's pretty fucked up.

that's the area that I would prefer to get into atm. But i'm hoping not to go too far out to perris and lake elsinore. Do you know if riverside has strict fire safety inspection that would literally visit you every year?

The problem you will run into with leasing, especially if it's a multi unit spot or the owner has multi properties, you are responsible for maintenance. There for you will prob have a fire inspection unless you are leasing out something like a single unit on someones personal property. Most of the time owners will have them do all the properties at once or they will want to see all of the units at 1 location at the same time if they are out there. I have never lived in cali so I'm not sure on the fire inspectors in that area and how they roll so might not be how it jives there. If there is a bunch of grows around where you are it's a safe bet they are going to show up. Fire marshals, at least where I have been in commercial spots, are pretty savvy at this point. Hell we got called on one for not having glass in the hoods of MH fixtures and checking all the ballasts for UL just to give you an example. IE if they see a bunch of A/C's or minisplits they are coming by.

So now you have to make the decision if you want to get a spot like that and not do something super perm that can be taken down for inspection, and if that is the case all the wiring ect will have to be up to code, or go for the ideal spot which is gonna take some time. Trust me everyone and their dog I know are always looking for spots like that and we scoop them as soon as we find them even if we don't need them at the time. It takes time to find spots like that and usually takes some kind of relationship with the owner through you or a friend if you are looking to lease/rent.

This is something you need local help on to get a good idea cause it could be totally different from state to state and area to area.

if I was going to stay in ca/ I hate it there now.... but unless you know people getting a spot is going to be a problem and Big $$$..... I know your not going to want to hear this..
but your better off going out and buying a few acs out by the river..... Havasu/ cottontel cove say 10acs= 30,000.00... put a building on it 20,000.. 50,000.00 for solor and lighting...... 25,000.00 well and spic...... 25,000.00 to get rolling
$ 150,000.00 Your Homesteading on your land no reason to say SH.T to ANYONE.... time to get Busy

Not 60 miles from your nice beach and 4.50 a gal for gas though.... If you want to make money there's the way..........................................
