I use 3 gallon pots and I get three or four ounces per plant; you don't really need huge pots in my opinion

I pay $18.50 for Fox Farm and with the perlite it fills at least nine 3 gallon pots per bag

But for pure economy the Home Depot Pro mix can't be beat in my opinion but you're still going to need perlite with that particular all purpose product, which is the only type Promix they carry, at least here it is

I'm going to use the pro mix. I already have pearlite. The FFOG I saw on Amazon was a lot. I tried to read the reviews to see how many pots it would fill, but the answers were so varied. If I could get it for a reasonable price and it filled enough pots, I'd do it. That's just not what I was seeing. Thank you for the screen shot because I'm going to see if my store had it in stock.

I have both 3 and 5 gal pots and am allowed to grow 5 plants.

I wouldn't buy it off of Amazon either it's near twice the price of driving up to the nearest hydro store here; good choice on the Pro mix! 🤙 -good luck!

Like others have said, your Ph is way too low. In soil, I have never once PH'd anything on every grow I have ever done. Get that PH back up in that 6.5 range. Plants this small in soil don't need any kind of nutes. Pulling your PH down in that under 6.0 range has locked out a few nutrients. Once you get that ph right, you should see improvements in a few days. Damaged leaves will not recover either. If it were me....straight tap water that has sat for 24 hours and nothing else for a few days. Make sure the soil gets a good wet AND dry cycle too.
Fixing the ph of the water is easy. It's everything else I'm trying to absorb. Haha. I'm getting the promix tomorrow and I'll mix with 50% pearlite. I got confused over all the different ph's. It's one for soil, one for coco, one for water. I thought I had everything down, but I do not.

look at the soil... its dry! They need more water to heal! Give them an extra 2 hours of night... should help them recover a bit...
The top is dry because I had fungus gnats and used diatomaceous earth to treat them. I was told after the problem was eradicated, to bottom water. It's only dry on the surface.

Soil I thought was 6.3 to 6.8 and looks like light burn and hot soil
6.5,6.8 for soil is what I have read online and in the grow bible and 5.5 to 5.8 for hydroponics. Now I'm no expert as I'm week 8 of flower on my first grow. Seems to me like light burn.

Did anyone suggest lights might have been too close and be the cause for stretching , discoloration etc...
Also , i think jimster had great advice , i start most of my plants in pro mix , actually , i go the entire grow in promix , i think your potting soil may have been too hot for seedlings,

If you use a pro mix and a complete one or two part nutrient , you can continue your grow and add half strength feedings and follow the signs your plants are showing, then adjust accordingly.

Next time you ever get gnats, use mosquito dunks that contain BTI in your water and yellow sticky traps.
That's the same think as mosquito bits, right? I knew about the sticky traps but somebody that I thought knew what she was doing, told me to use the diam earth. She said the soil needed to be dry on top and to bottom water. That was fine for the few plants that survived the great vinegar debacle of 2020, but I can't top water my cannabis plants, and that is my main priority right now. The soil was* dry yesterday. Seeing as though I hadn't seen any gnats in a few days, I top watered. Today I saw 3 in there. I asked her about the mosquito bits and she said they're for fruit flies, not fungus gnats. Lesson learned. But, apparently, now I have to go through that shit all over again.

Thank you. I'm picking up the Promix tomorrow. And more pearlite. At first they were too far away from the lighting which caused stretching. Then apparently too close. I backed them off a bit though. That one plant in the picture is more browned now too. I hope I can save it.

I get how to PH the water and add nutrients. I don't get how you know the ph of your soil and how the 2 mesh together. I feel like I'm missing something really simple here.

Alot of ppl get confused with it. Don't worry.

google soil slurry test. You test your soils ph and or ppm with a slurry test using a ph pen. You mix 2oz water to 2oz soil. Shake up and measure.

I found what worked for me was put your hand under your light , if it starts to burn it's too close to you plants

The bits could be...I am not too sure of what's in it. I know things like the dunks and Gnatrol have it. Look for BTI. Safe for plants. Even if you don't have pests the traps can help has preventative. DE works well too...just leaves that nasty clumpy paste when you water. Both work, just giving you a lazy way too lol.

My cheapo ph pen, that I literally just got a couple weeks ago, already has dead batteries. But I'm replacing those too. I will Google that to Gerry Moore in depth info, but you described it pretty well. I appreciate it very much. I don't know what I'd do without you guys.

Well, I like lazy. I'm a "set it and forget it" type of girl, I suppose. I know you can't do that with canna plants, but anything to make the process more streamlined, I will happily do. My emphasis is heavily on effectiveness though. I want those little fkrs dead.

Typically the bugs come with the potting soil , bag soil mixes , thats why i suggest every friend or beginner to start seeds , young plants in promix , where they ( pests ) are less likely to be found...

I had gotten them pretty bad in my 2nd grow. I tossed a dunk into a 5 gallon jug I used for waterings and feeds. I placed a few random sticky traps up and the problem was gone in less then a week.
