Afghanistan beans

Seeing that America has tens of thousands of troops, plus a bunch of others in Afghanistan.

I wonder why we are not seeing an influx of Afghani beans being brought back, or, are they coming back and I'm just too baked to notice it.

When I came back from Nam, I brought some seeds and I have to believe that today's GI's are no different.

I was just gifted some landrace afghan seeds from a fellow friend. He sent me 6 seeds,He called them TALIBAN SHADOW KING. These seeds have an incredible background story, and I believe every bit of it!
The guy I got these from had them gifted by one of his best friends. These two guys both served in the army together, and were stationed in Afghanistan serving a tour for the US Army.. The first guy was sent home on a discharge, and the other guy was still on tour. This guy and his company were on a mission in afghanistan to raid and shut down a taliban grow operation.

The following are the words of the fellow i got these from..
This operation was taking place on a mountain named Tirich Mir, which is in the Hindu Kush Mountains in Pakistan and overlooks Chitral.
In Wakhi, “Tirich” means Shadow and Mir means “King” so Tirich Mir means King of Shadows. It got this name as it casts long shadows on the Wakhan side of its face.

The last village in Chitral before reaching Tirich Mir is Tirich Village. Residents of the village are available for hire as porters and tourist guides and will lead trekkers part way up the mountain, but there is a point beyond which they will not go. According to the locals, the mountain is haunted by Jinn (evil spirits), witches and demons.
To reach the operation it required a 12k ft extreme terrain, up hill climb which he said took 3.5 hrs to drive 20 miles up.

They came across a massive grow from what my friend says of 1000's of plants. During the raid my friend found these 9 magic beans.

This took place at the onset of winter and he said some of the plants were purple/red."

THis grow is def going to be interesting to say the least.. What I have, is definitely a true afghan landrace from the citral region..

sorry to butt in but thats how we got a landrace in southern italy....soldiers returning from lebanon in he 50s apparenly brought back beans that have been grown in the mountains in calabria since then.

i want to do a post on this soon once i finish my research...

Overview:

Pure Kush #6 is a traditional Hash plant line from Afghanistan.

Although called pure Kush this is a reference to its given name. This line was collected prior to the Soviet Invasion by collector/growers in North America from Southern Afghanistan areas, outside of the Hindu Kush.

The line has been maintained in pure form for many years with out out crossing and is a pure Landrace - Farmed Line. In the maintained of this line, four generations of Incrossing has been done prior to our receiving it from the original collector. Multiple females where used, however only a single best Male of that year was used. Hence this line cannot be considered a wild Landrace. We completed one more in-cross using multiple Females and Males to ensure what diversity of traits we could see in the plants was maintained as best as possible.

The plants are very traditional Hash making plants original collected from a Farmed Line. The tastes are sweet and sour citrus, as are the smells. Indoors they will grow Single large central cola of tight buds. Outdoors these plants will finish in September around 8ft high with a massive, 4ft cola. Production is good, final flower weight is relatively high due to the heavy weight of the finished flower. If used in their traditional role as a Hash making line these plants truly excel in delivery of a huge yield of resins.

Finished flowers display a sweet citrus smell over a earthy darker base. Flowers are tight and heavy with large calyx covered in THC. The smoke is very heavy, both in the density and the effect. This is a traditional Hash line and is heavy on the body. The flowers need a month to cure out a slight harshness in the early smoke which can lead to choke if smoked early. Given a short cure this leaves and the smoke is very heavy, dense and sweet. It is very high potency and will sit you down in a deeply relaxed state.

I believe they were mailed back, they may be the reasoning behind only 9 seeds.. I really dont know. But I was gifted 5 of the 9 seeds. I got 3 healthy plants out of these 5 seeds. 1 female and 2 males. These 3 plants will be kicked back to flower within a month. First step is to inbred for f2 progeny, I will also do some tests crossing out the 2 males to different females in my room. Also will be looking into an auto project. Def some interesting genetics, Afghan being one of my favorite strains. I cant wait to see what these are hiding..

There was one other guy that grew out a few of the remainding seeds, and I believe he had 2 females and a male. The male died before he had a chance to inbreed back to his female or females..

thats a high elevation indica....

probably puts out quite alot of resin to protect itself from the rays up there...

There used to be quite a few Afghani cultivars floating around back in the mid seventies . I have one I used to call rag top indica . It smelled like a old rag and the buds were very hard and crusty with a skunky smell as well. It would lay you out ....super couch lock all the way . I miss that one . Where did you get your beans from biggs?

Soldiers today aren't like they were 40 years ago and neither is the army, I bet you get discharged these days if they caught you bringing seeds back to the usa. But that makes me think also I wonder how many soldiers are getting addicted to heroin in afghanistan, never heard that one brought up for discussion in the media. .

why would anyone that has never tried heroine just try it? i mean like a soldier that gets drug tested alot? i could see someone hooked on pain pills or whatever or some down an out youngster. but a soldier that went threw all that training and whatnot just to all the sudden try it?

I got my Talk of Kabul from a service member who served in Afganistan in 1996.ToK for short. Came from a warlord in the Kush MTS.who was busted by the US Army for contributing to the Taliban with the proceeds from hash and opium.His family been growing this stuff from before Alexander the Great was there! They burned all his seed except a small hand full my buddy collected. He had it smugled out when a friend was airlifted through Germany and his friends GF mailed them from there.I gess it`s hard to get seeds out of Afganistan and if you get caught they put you in a fedral pen!

shit, im still trying to work thru the 1000+ i have.
i gotta say....i havent come across ONE, yet, that I would call a perfect and stellar indoor performer. and, honestly, if you are expecting squat, short plants with fat leaves, you are in for a surprise.
i dont know if its the source of the beans or what, but, each and every one, grew more like a hybrid profile (relatively tall and lanky with finishing times in the late 9th/early 10th week)

but the search is still on and ive got *alot* to look thru, so, imma happy farmer.

btw...the opium rocked. got a lil in my last and final shipment of beans. :)
it staples one to the couch with a nag champa taste in their mouth and a "i just banged the neighbors daughter" look on your face.

if yall wanna see some pics, lemme know. ill take some next time im there. but these arent what i would call stellar examples of what i thought an afghani indica was supposed to be.
