Hi,
I decided to grow to offset costs of medical. My wife is a 1 year medical patient and it has been a chore to get and keep what she needs. I have made several mistakes and now trying to get guidance.

Welcome to the farm. Just finished up my first grow and with the help of the farm, pulled off some pretty decent stuff. You can too. Start a diary and allow us to follow along and help as needed. We’re all like minded farmers here for the love of our precious plantS and community.

Thank you, I will begin week 3 of flower on 9/6. My issue is I tried to keep in vegetative stage for 60 days as recommended. But had to force flower sooner due to height. I am now almost top of canopy at the lights. I have been bending and tying down and now afraid of rot or burn. Can I continue to bend them over? I don't want to lose main cola. What do I do?

If those were my plants, I’d take that main stem and bend it down to an almost 45 degree angle. If you research super cropping you sill be able to utilize those techniques right now. 3rd week in flowering is the time. Get back to us when you’ve researched supercropping. You won’t lose it if you super crop it.

I have been doing that just was not sure I could do it this late. Everything I read said stop when flowering but an article I just read said I can do it up till Wednesday. I will hate to lose the lose strawberry cough if it doesn't work but everywhere I have done it previously has the big knots like the article I read. Thanks for the advice.

Here is what I did. Think it is exactly what I needed to do

Very nice, watch them explode. They will naturally start growing toward the light again. Be patient and let em recover. Great job.

Well you were right! The little ladies have definitely recovered and growing fatter flowers now. Growing an indica (jager) a hybrid (bluberry og) and a sativa (strawberry cough).
The strawberry cough is the most aggressive and has double the flower of the other two.
Smell has definitely increased and getting very sticky on leaves around flowers.
Got to be the hardest part is flower stage.

Looking good. Yeah for a new grower that’s why growing in soil is better. It’s more forgiving. In coco, things go wrong, really fast. Learn as much as you can this grow and you will be that much better on the next.

Disappointed in my first harvest. But I learned so much and have the next plants ready to go in.

You wrote before that "I will begin week 3 of flower on 9/6." -- how long had these been flowering before you chopped them? Only ask because you might have gotten more by letting them bloom longer. Either way, you grew some weeds! Congratulations! Now the curing.....

8 weeks. Started July 15th flowering.

Ahh, so it should have said 8/6. 😁 🧐 Right on, 8 weeks is respectable, seems like it depends on the strain. Either way, congrats again. The next best thing is when the time comes to sample your product.

Sorry if it’s a stupid question but what is the 9/6 and 8/6 all about? I’m 3 weeks into my first grow and have 4 female mimosa champagne and 1 bag seed that I’ve named straydawg on week 4. I am in no rush as I have some auto seeds being delivered also- but the seeds state 9-10 weeks flowering time on the feminised seeds, does this mean once I’m happy with the plants and want to flip them flowering will be 9-10 week ish? I’ve seen a lot of quotes like yours about 8/6 and 9/6 I wasn’t sure if these were dates or light schedules or what ? Again apologies for the novice question 🤦🏻‍♂️ Just out here trying to not go wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

LEDNOOB - they were talking about the date when OP flipped....

take everything with a grain of salt, especially whatever seller/manufacturer claims. anywhere between 8 to 10+ weeks is typical flowering phase.

i don't follow someone else's schedule - i try to follow whatever the plant dictates, given the growing conditions.

don't be too disappointed, move onto the next crop.

just be patient, starting with drying & curing.

opportunity - at least you can start afresh, after harvesting. goal is to improve our growing skills, given our personal/growing conditions - and i reckon the improvements soon will be reflected in the future grows.

in the end, you never know unless you give it a go, hey. stick to it.

2 weeks into the next flowering as of 9/29/20.
I did not let disappointed 1st grow stop me. In fact quite the opposite. Learned a ton in the first grow and now my mission is to improve.
I can also tell you what I grew is better than medical available from a dispensary.
Low stress training this new grow, and have 33 top main colas on 5 plants due to supercropping early in veg.
I am excited to see how 2nd grow turns out.
