Does Topping equal a higher yield?

Indoors, it depends on a lot of things. I prefer LST because I don't want to spend the extra time in vegging. LST, when done right, can give you all the benefits of topping without losing that top vegetation and this usually means more yield than topping alone.

However

If you were to spend the extra time in vegging such as "mainlining" for example ... you can significantly increase your yield of quality bud.

Therefore, @MIMedGrower's answer is probably the best answer ... it all depends ...
what is Lst?

Every grow is different. Everybody will have their own opinion. Depending on genetics depending on the light source depending on the nutrients depending on the environment and depending on the type of media. Will have different outcomes. It could increase it if done right yeah.

I top mine 3 times then flower them and i get 4 to 5 ounces a plant with wedding cake. Alot goes into growing. Its more about facts and doing it than somebodies opinion.

That's a good reference point, I usually top mine 2x in veg state but on last cycle I topped my plants 3x. What I noticed was that none of the tops had the same height as before...which is OK by me because my room is 6ft height...kinda tight. I get 3-4oz per plant when topped 2x in veg and my goal is to get more if topping 3x in veg state. The attached photo is a main cola and most of the other tops when topped 2x in veg are about the same :)

Low Stress Training = LST

" I start shaping the plant by tying down the main stem during mid veg. After a couple of days, I release it from being tied down. I keep repeating that through out veg and end up with nice bushy plants and an even canopy through out the grow area. "
that's very cool -I started doing the same thing a few cycles ago but only after they're under the big lights and seeing some of the tops grow faster then others.

If you do get into topping, fim, lst, mainlining, manifolding or other form of stress induction, remember to support the canopy so buds won’t break branches. Scrog, where you use a net screen or stakes. It depends...

I appreciate the tip - yes, mostly it’s fimming and topping that I do and I make sure all are supported adequately.

You can grow impressive buds using topping methods. It's not wrong. It will force you to veg longer to replace the vegetation you cut. It's growers choice.

If you start during veg, you'll get a bushier plant in my opinion.
Interestingly enough, during veg the canopy is fairly even. It’s when I bloom them that a race starts to my ceiling.,.oddest thing. Could be angle on lights.

To be more accurate, I really don't stop LST once I start. I start earlier than some might but I also don't stop until plants are harvested ... because later on, they will need support which is also part of LST.

I start at inches tall and don't stop until flower stretching is done. The sooner I can get multiple tops the better. For my best method so far, I bent as early as I could.

Higher yields, maybe not, more quality and even yields sure, less popcorn bud...for sure... but topping alone , without defoliation ? I would leave an outdoor plant without topping for best result. Indoor, lst and a little topping helps.
The only time defoliation is beneficial is if you screwed up and got overcrowded. I never did understand why people veg so long they have to defoliate. What a waste of time and space.

I never vegged all that long 5 weeks ,maybe a week too long and thats exactly what happened .just too crowded...bloody things stretched more than i expected.

Im still on my L plates 😃
