I’m new af but have scanned the chat for years... saw this post and decided to tell my story:

basically I did a preservation of some ghost train haze x stardawg f1s... and wonderful variation for the f1s! just popping male was hearty and jet purple (if that’s a color) female had purple buds and green leaves (bag candy right?). So I crack the f2 and uh the taste and high is literally my fav weed atm (I’m in a rec state trust me decent m8s)

moving on... I selected from 3 f2 (gth x sd) males a stud with that bleachy headiest vibe... dopest internodes rly like the rare dankness legend gth with her stacked colas! And he basically went on to pollinate a fire bagseed I had of a pretty rare clone only strain called wakanda og (gg4 x cookies og)... so to an s1 that was basically some 30% from a .25 and had to be the loudest nose I’ve ever smoked... insta smacked punk rock, but anyways

I got my new f1 stored perfectly for long term and here are the genetics:

(gthaze x (stard x (stard x ghost og))) x (gg4 x (cookies x og))

now I’m trying to bx some s1/fem seeds I’ve been itching to keep around. Using the new f1 for said bx because I know I can get a male with the most/best desirable traits without having to work backwards lol, and ofc wouldn’t mind smoking it but I’m really backed up with other grows and can’t give refinement of this baby my full time and effort...

anybody interested in the strain pls lmk!
I’d prefer having this particular breed just meet people like it met me (in a bag?)

cheers

Yeah pretty much, it's happening on the two stems from the 3rd node but they're not separating.

When I topped at the 5th, the 4th node branches never really grew and got overcome by those really quick.
Could be a stardawg or chem trait. I have a similar male from do-si-do x stardawg, that has a similar stem, flattened, self topping, etc. I have been thinking of reversing it, just for kicks.....

ribboning or fasciation is the correct term.I think it is a phytotoxin or a meristematic pathogen, but it really needs more "lab" testing.I would stay away from breeding with those.I haven't found a benefit in the structure at all on a commercial level.

So the mutant is putting on her flowers now. The 2 main stems are both doing it. Im not sure how this is going to affect things down the road but it sure looks weird right now. 🤷‍♂️

Wtf is this ? 😐

So I got so excited that the seeds were actually viable and I could kick off this project I completely forgot to actually "grow" this plant. 🤷‍♂️

Now she's already too tall for my space and going to be really interesting to watch going forward. I have zero experience with this kind of mutation so we'll chalk it up to learning and move on. 👍

POLYPLOIDISM
Polyploids in nature are organisms that possess double the number of chromosomes than their non-mutant genetic twins. This trait can sometimes be fixed into plant species via selective breeding. Cannabis plants can spontaneously develop polyploidism. It can also be induced in plants via treatment with a powerful chemical called colchicine.

This is a hugely useful trait for significantly increasing THC production, as well as yield. Extra-large plants produce extra-large buds, of course. At this time, there are no true-breeding strains with this mutation that have been stabilised.
