My favorite grow store is by far grow generation here in Brewer, Maine.
But I try and support the locals here, so I go to Urban Gardens in Brewer, Maine also. Gotta support my community I live in, naw mean! Peace and Love everyone

I've only been in one grow shop. I was not impressed with the staff. I get it's a weed growing store, but they were so high it was pointless to ask any questions. They're lucky I did my research. I'll withhold their name because i think that rude.
I bought most of my stuff on Amazon.
Agway? Do they count? Home depot?
Definitely build a soil. I haven't tried it. It's currently baking in my greenhouse.

My Favorite is HTG supply located in connecticut, I have even found some hard to time veganic growing soil and they are always super kind and helpful! They even sell rosin presses
