Indoor LED Grow light question

I just got this 1000w LED light. For indoor seedlings, how far away should I hang this light. I'll only be doing 2 plants. Thank you for any help, Sean

For seedlings, you should probably hang it pretty far away(24" or more), they don't need much light. Then, when it has it's first leaves you can start moving it down.

Yeah, 24” on veg, leave a little room in the seedling cup for more soil in case they stretch.

How much electricity does it draw from the wall outlet? I would be very surprised if it actually draws 1000w. This information should be listed on the spec sheet of the light. If it doesn't draw 1000w from the wall, it's not a 1000w light. Let us know and we'll go from there.

If it only draws 150w, then it's only a 150w light. This to me is a deceptive sales practice. If it's not what they say it is, I would consider returning it so you can pursue something much better.

They try to claim that they are equivalent to the light output of a traditional 1000w HPS thats where the number comes from. Those cheap amazon Blurple lights are everywhere I have used them in the past however they are no where near the performance they claim. They suck really bad however if all your doing is using them for seedlings and vegging they are OK. Flowering not so great unless your only doing 1 small plant in its footprint. The output cant flower a true canopy your stuff will be larf. I still have one in a small tent however I upgraded my other tents to much better lights there is a huge difference when you get a good light.

Personally I would stay away from any company that falsely advertises wattage.
Big red flag. Bigger red flag if they call it 1000w HID replacement.

I would be looking at lights from Spider Farmer if you want something reasonably priced that will produce what you want it to. There are others too. I have a bunch of Kingbrite boards that have served me well. Those come directly from China and there's a lot of kingbrite boards being used by our forum members. Others will chime in with their own personal favorites I'm sure.

Look in the specs and see what it actually draws from the wall. This is the only information you need to know about that light right now. The rest is designed to separate your money from your wallet.

@Mr.GreenthumbOG has a point. never the less, i think it's kinda of a overkill cheap light for seedlings.
1st off, you need to only switch on the veg light on the light. So, the flower light switch is kinda pointless.
2ndly, seedlings don't even need that much light as mentioned
3rdly, that light needs to be far away so it doesn't kill the seedling and instead it becomes stretchy, fluppy slung. lol!
and finally, you better get a white specturum light VS the red and blue. Thats old!

I think you are reading it wrong...it doesn't say 1000 watts it says 1000w..........is that short for watts OR? is it just a 1000w light? lost in translation...are the att

It wouldn't be the first time .... I have a "Kill O Watt" device that I can plug into an outlet and see actual watts being used. You can find them for around $20 +/- a little. A gadget like that would bring out the truth.

A ton of them on there are claiming 1000w output its a common ploy amongst the Amazon/Ebay cheap Chinese LED sellers. They all use questionable performance graphs and confusing data spreads to try to convince people that the light is more powerful than it actually is. In reality that light is probably more comparable to a 150w or a 250w HPS. There is absolutely no way in hell that light can put out lumens like a true 1000w HPS. Even though its a crap light it can still work for a tiny grow tent so long as you are only doing around 1 plant. I have one almost identical to yours I flowered a GDP in it about 4 years ago and it came out descent but I had to drop the light lower in late flower to get enough lumens to create proper trichs. I only use that light for veg now I have better lights for flowering. This is a pic of that past grow it was with the same cheap amazon blurple light...

I just did an amzon search with 1000w grow light and all the lights you speak of pop up. I then searched for 1000 +watt grow light and again the ones you speak of pop up but as you scroll down you'll see lights advertised as 1000 watts are 1000w hps lights but none of the 1000w lights say watts on their header.

math never lies...
that "1000w" light is actually 188 watts true watts (with the Current to match at 1.9A).
Most 700 watts light run 6.4A if not a bit higher amperage draw (due to statistical deviation).

Actual watts consumed divided by volts will give you your normal draw in Amps. Thanks @figgie for the picture, it really says it all. Its showing 15,211 lux ... that's about the same amount of light my 3 6500k led shop lights put out while consuming 120 watts.
