I agree with the homemade supersoil, it’s your best bet to know what you’re growing in, tons of good soils here, I can go to 3 stores locally and pick up any of the major brands. Coast of Maine, fox farms and ProMix, just luck I live in the middle of farm country I’m actually surrounded by vineyards within a 20 mile radius around my house due to the soil, very nice sandy loomy soil roots grow like crazy, I just prefer being able to move my plants lol
I wont go fox farm again I think I got ripped off. I can't seem to find it in my area so I ordered it on Amazon and 1 bag was 80 bucks lol. Couldn't even fully fill 2 5 gallon pots. I'll be using pro mix next time.

Holy damn haha I pay $16 for the 1.5qu/Ft bags that bale of lucky dog is $65 but I could fill about 15-20x 5 gallon buckets lol I have tons in the basement I’m going to put a bunch bunch into the garden to loosen the soil plus add the microbes that’s in lucky dog

I could try pro mix next, have done strawberry fields, lucky dog, happy frog, ocean forest … this is my 2nd go with strawberry fields I like it, I’m hoping the lucky dog performs better though but we’ll see I have 2 cement shoes seedlings from about 10 year old seeds from @MDK I put one in the LD and one in the SF so we’ll see there only about 8 days above soil so far 😁

Hello my question is if my water ph is 7.0 -7.2 will that be bad for my plant... also if I use that water will I have to make sure soil ph stay below 6.7 or should I just use water with ph 6.2-6.7 to keep soil ph at needed levels
Please advise
To be honest -never checked 'Ph" values ever in 40yrs - for water tap _ let set out for 24hrs. before you use along with watering the plant also need "dry"times also (some cultivators let the plants go dry for 3-7 days)

The soil you bought comes with a ph from 6,3 to 6,8. Tap water is around 7ph or higher, not a huge difference so your substrate has kept an optimal ph for your feeding but the more you water the more your soil will adjust to the ph of your water. You can grow with an alkaline soil but the results are gonna be underwhelming in comparison, your nutes might adjust the ph for you, most organics tend to lower the ph, or even non organics with some kind of acid added, but if you dont know I highly recommend you buy a liquid ph test like the one from General Hydroponics (if you dont wanna spend money in a ph device), if your nutes are not lowering the ph of the water enough your yield will most likely suffer. Also when you are adding some other components like lets say silica, the ph skyrockets so you might wanna adjust when giving silica suplements to your plants.
EDIT: Likewise after mixing nutes you can end up with a ph too low, even tho thats rare but can happen depending on what youre using, going lower than 5,5 is not only bad for your nutrient uptake and roots, but can also poison your plant. Alumina can come with the soil as its part of many additives like diatomaceuos earth, its harmless in the soil and can even act as a buffer for nutes but when the ph drops below 5,5 it becomes water soluble and can poison your plants if you regularly use diatomaceous earth. If you cant afford to buy a ph up and ph down liquid, you can temporarily use lemon to lower your ph, adding drops til the desired ph is reached (many ph up liquids are citric acid anyway, but its absorved too quickly giving more acidity to the plant so its not my favorite) and a tiny pinch of sodium bicarbonate if you wanna make it higher. Dont buy citric acid ph down, check the ingredients, General Hydroponics has the best one IMO with a mix of phosphoric acid, ammonium dihydrogenorthophosphate and citric acid. Those first 2 are more stable in your substrate mantaining the ph. Just use a couple drops, mix well, let it rest and measure it, once you get used to it you will know how many drops per gallon you need to get what you want.
Thanks so much info her I will post a picture later today of all my equipment I will likento know if I'm all set... I've just picked up seed so will be starting officially this week

OK so your saying let my water sit forn24 hours b4 I water plants?? So how often did u check ph of soil... so soil ph is more important than water ph

just forget about ph.. if you want to ph stuff you can, if so another grower/s will help you as i don’t ph nothing..
so you need to decide on what you want to do not what someone else tells ya..

Most of the soul’s mentioned have a buffer to automatically adjust ph for you such as dolimite line .
Hey buddy so *soils I'm gonna use has buffers in it to keep ph at needed levels? I'm using a mix.. also have 5 gallon fabric pot and since I'm gonna grow in backyard I was told to get oil as well
And I'm starting my seedling in a jiffy pot(about jiffy pots can I just translate whole jiffy pot in fabric pot or do I take out of jiffy pot.. or should I just put seedling in 5 gallon pot from seed to harvest...
But am I all set for my soil and pots
Please advise if I need anything else or anything I should be doing during process

Wow, nice spanish, I wasnt expecting it. Yo soy del norte de Cataluña, has visto mas España que yo! Yo solo he estado en Barcelona y Jaen de ciudades grandes. Im stubborn as a mule and I still think that telling people to not care about the ph when you dont even know how they are growing and what they are using is not ideal tho! You wont change my mind on that :P when I saw he was using ph perfect I told him he was safe, it would be different if he was growing with another nute and you know that! I dont care that you guys are salty because the new boy is contradicting you! You know, I know, and everyone knows that telling a new grower to just not worry about the ph because he has a substrate with dolomite lime, azomite, leonardite or whatever ph buffer it has is not ideal, you dont know how the nutes are altering the ph of the water because you dont even know what he is putting in the water! Im stubborn but open minded at the same time. I just cant agree with you when everything I know goes against that, I had ph problems in the past with good substrate and even adding extra azomite and dolomite myself, I might be new in the forum but Im not new to growing and I know that you guys know exactly what mix to use for your soil to not have to care about phing your water, but a newgrower? Nah.

I've got almost 30 years in the industry. Most of it at the center of the weed world, California. I've worked with some of the most talented Master Growers in the world. Good Luck with your grow!

@GNick55 @Mikedin

Other question I have sorry if they are dumb...
Is compost tra and fertilizer the same thing?
What is flushing the plant?
@GNick55 you never showed me organic fertilizer to use is the one I have ok?
Isn't feeding and watering the same thing?
And you said don't go crazy about ph but monitor soil ph correct?
Also can I just use the dirt thats in my backyard..
If not how deep should I dig new hole for new dirt.

ok, so you are able to put the plant into the ground for an outdoor grow?
how’s the soil? clay, sandy, etc?.
where abouts are you?

because your wrong about that and i’m not gonna go on an endless discussion about it with you..
enjoy the farm..
Okay let me tell you how this interaction went
Me: Such high ph? is that good? Maybe theres something I dont know.
You: Yeah the soil has ph buffers
Me: They didnt help me in my grow to keep the ph right til the end
You: Ego kicks in and people start saying "oh do you know Big Mike, cause I do" its like a "trust me bro, I know a big grower" how is that suposed to make me understand? Then you guys start making fun of me while Im trying to make sense of what Im saying based in my experience.
I see this happen in many weed forums where the "OGs" make fun of new people when they dont simply accept the "trust me bro" answer. Sorry that Im not dumb enough to "trust you bro" without any explanation. You could have done like Mikedin and this thred would have like 2 pages, but you guys had to inflate your egos a bit in the process and get salty because I didnt have the same experience with ph buffers, okay. I think you are not seeing this from my perspective.

for the second time i’m telling you..
